Basso is likely gaining a lot of fans.

Your favorite show ever about Night Action kicks off its second season on Thursday, January 23, when The Night Agent begins again. Will the second season be as good as the first? That might be asking too much. Plus, the second season probably won't get as many views because one would have to watch season one to get to season two, presumably.

When we left off Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland, he was boarding a flight after getting his first assignment as a full-fledged agent. He had kissed his girlfriend, Rose Larkin, goodbye, and though she asked him to call when he arrived at his destination, he could make no promises. But we know bad things happen to Peter once he arrives in Thailand.

We know this because the trailer for season two tells us this. He has already called the Night Action Hotline because he is already being chased by some people who do not like him. Or the United States. Or both. We also gather he has reunited with Larkin somehow, and that is a good thing. We hope.

What other Gabriel Basso shows or movies can you stream on Netflix?

But once you have burned through season two of The Night Agent, what will you do then? Maybe you didn't know much about Basso until he starred in the Netflix Original, and you want to see if he can truly act or if he was simply gifted a fantastic role on a great show.

There is good and bad on Netflix to that last part. Basso had his biggest role before The Night Agent on a show called The Big C. He appeared in 40 episodes of that series about a mother who is battling cancer while also trying to find happiness. Laura Linney was also on the program. Sadly, The Big C is not on Netflix.

You are not completely out of luck, though. Basso does appear in two other things you can view currently on Netflix. Both are pretty good.

Hillbilly Elegy

No matter where your politics lie (the movie is based on the book written by United States Vice President J.D. Vance), the filmmakers did a pretty good job of making the entire thing entertaining. Basso plays Vance, and the movie is directed by Ron Howard. The flick also stars Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

The plot involves a Yale student being forced to go back to his hometown in Ohio and there is much deep diving into his family history. Sounds fairly boring, right? Thankfully, Basso and the others elevate the material.

Trigger Warning

Oddly, Trigger Warning also features someone returning to their hometown; only in this film do things turn violent. Basso also does not have as big of a role as he does in Hillbilly Elegy. He plays Mike who owns a bar in the main character's hometown. The cool bit is that the protagonist is played by Jessica Alba, and she is more than ready for things to break bad.

The script is a bit overwrought, and the violence is a bit too much, but it is not a terrible film. Plus, it will give you one more look at Basso before deciding he is, in fact, quite the good actor. He also is set to make one of his next projects a Netflix Original movie directed by Kathryn Bigalow. There is no timeline for the release.
