Emily in Paris season 6 filming hits an unexpected change ahead of 2026 premiere

If there's one Netflix show that millions of fans are looking forward to tuning into later this year, it's definitely Emily in Paris. The Emmy-nominated romantic comedy series has enjoyed a long and successful run in spite of its critics and haters, but we're preparing to say our final goodbyes to Emily Cooper very soon. The sixth and final season is on the way, though with a slight snag.

Don't worry, there's no significant delay in the Emily in Paris season 6 release plans, but the production reached an unexpected hurtle. Filming on the upcoming final season began in May 2026 and is expected to be completed by September for a release before the year comes to an end. But series star Minnie Driver was recently in a car accident, prompting the actress to take time off work.

Emily in Paris season 6 shuffles filming after Minnie Driver's accident

Driver shared the news of her car accident with her Instagram followers on Aug. 6, explaining what happened in a video of herself wearing a neck brace along with a detailed caption. The star wasn't on set when she was involved in the accident as it happened during her time off from work while in Paris. Thankfully, Driver and her companion are okay, though she's now taking time away from season 6.

Deadline has confirmed that while Emily in Paris season 6 shuffled its production schedule in order to accommodate Driver while she heals, the pace of filming hasn't been impacted too much. Driver was prepared to film one more scene involving her character, Princess Jane, before taking pre-planned break from her time on set. It seems that her break has simply been moved up a bit.

Additional scenes that involve Driver's character have reportedly been moved to a later date, allowing Lily Collins and the rest of the cast to remain on set and working on the final season. Obviously, Driver's health and wellbeing is far more important than a television show remaining on schedule for release. She explained that in the T-bone crash in the French countryside, she sustained a sprained neck and returned home to London in order to rest and heal before returning to set.

Driver's character was introduced in season 5 and recurred throughout the season. When Agence Grateau found itself in dire financial straits by the end of season 5, Princess Jane stepped in as a new partner to keep the firm afloat. But they now have another loose cannon aboard their operation, and that's sure to create even more opportunities for hilarious ups and downs in season 6.

Emily in Paris season 6 has previously been confirmed for release in 2026 by Netflix, and despite slight production challenges in the wake of Driver's accident, the final season isn't expected to be delayed. Wrapping up filming in September and dropping in December seems like a tight squeeze, but Netflix has always maintained a quick turnaround for the fan-favorite hit.
