Crew Girl renewed for season 2 after more than doubling its viewership

There are celebrations in order that are much bigger than Easton Prep winning an especially challenging rowing competition. It's been less than two weeks since Netflix premiered the new teen sports romance, and Crew Girl season 2 has already been renewed. The streamer announced the exciting news on Sept. 22 following the show doubling its viewership week-to-week.

Crew Girl arrived on Netflix with a real bang and sailed straight to the peak of the Top 10 in the United States. But the new teen sports romance has also made its presence known worldwide. After two weeks of availability, the series had already made a strong case for a season 2 renewal, and we're not surprised that Netflix wasted no time in announcing the show's second season.

In its first four days of availability following the show's Sept. 10 premiere, the series attracted 5.2 million views, which was already enough for us to believe the chances of a second season were solid. But its first full week doubled down—literally. That doesn't always happen with new Netflix shows, and when it does happen, the streamer takes notice.

Crew Girl season 2 is happening after viewership success

When Netflix released the new viewership numbers for the Global Top 10 English-Language Shows for the week of Sept. 14-20, Crew Girl moved from the No. 4 position to the No. 2 position and more than doubled its viewership. The series brought in 11.3 million views, which translates to 70.1 million hours viewed, just behind Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story's No. 1 debut with 12.1 million views.

Apart from the show's stellar debut and incredible second week, Crew Girl quickly cemented itself in pop culture, gaining an overnight fanbase that couldn't stop talking about Team Josh vs. Team Cam online. Leading up to the big reveal, Netflix had been sharing more and more promotional content of series stars Miku Martineau, Kyle Clark, and Samuel Braun.

Upon the official Crew Girl season 2 renewal, Netflix shared a video of Martineau making the announcement, and the star also shared a statement:

"I am beyond excited for Crew Girl season two! There’s so much left to explore with the characters, the romances, and the rowing team, it’s going to be a ride for sure! All I know is that it will definitely be a packed, juicy, drama filled second season so I’m ready to get back in a boat and on camera! #teamteagan"

Clearly, Martineau has made her stance known that she's rooting for Teagan more than she's rooting for either of the show's ships. Martineau also teased a new season that's full of drama, and that's to be expected given where the first season ended. There are going to be some big changes at Easton Prep in season 2, both in Teagan's personal life and on the rowing team.

When we left Easton Prep at the end of season 1, Teagan seemingly made her decision between Josh and Cam after she and Cam shared a kiss. The rowing team will be down a coach and possibly a coxswain now that a girls' rowing team appears to be in the works under the watchful eye of Teagan's enemy Britney. Just when Teagan thought life would be getting a little bit easier.

Hopefully with the early renewal, Crew Girl season 2 will be able to get off to the races sooner rather than later. It's too soon to tell when the new episodes might be hittinh our watch lists, but we can hope that the second season will make its premiere sometime before the end of 2027.
