The last adventure of the Pogues has come to an end with the release of Outer Banks season 5 on Netflix, and the stars of the hit Netflix original series are saying goodbye.

Chase Stokes posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying goodbye to the character he played in the series and thanking fans for their support over the show's five-season run on Netflix.

"It’s been an honor to bring John B to life the past 6 years," Stokes said in the message. "Forever thankful for each and every one of you who has tuned in and supported this cast and crew. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

He ended that part with a heart emoji before adding, "The final chapter of Outer Banks, is now streaming on Netflix. Enjoy."

Stokes also shared a look behind the scenes on the final season of Outer Banks.

Jonathan Daviss, who starred as Pope alongside Stokes, commented, "Love you brother."

I'm sure it's quite bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters and series that basically put all these young actors on the map. Sure, Stokes and his co-stars were in other shows and movies, but this was definitely their big break. Now, they've gone on to other bigger projects.

It's definitely been a wild ride for Stokes and the rest of the cast. After filming the first season in 2019, the show premiered on April 15, 2020, which was one month after the United States (and world, mostly) shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Outer Banks was one of the first shows to return to production after season 1 aired.

Then, production was interrupted again in 2023 between season 3 and season 4 when the studios couldn't lock down the writers' and actors' unions. Rudy Pankow, who starred as JJ Maybank, left the series in the season 4 finale. Then, it's all been a wild race to the finish line.

After watching Outer Banks season 5, it's easy to see why it's been so hard for these stars to say goodbye and leave this project behind. I know it wasn't smooth sailing the whole time, but you can see and feel the amount of heart and soul these performers, as well as the creative team and crew, put into bringing the Pogues, Kooks, and Kildare Island to life.

I know I'm not alone when I say I'm definitely going to miss Outer Banks more than most Netflix shows. I've always loved a good, fun heist, and there's no show that pulls that off better than Outer Banks.

The good news for Outer Banks fans is that Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, the creators of the series, are already working on an Outer Banks prequel that tells the story of the older characters and how the island came two decades before we meet John B and the Pogues in the show's first season. I'll definitely be watching it!

Stay tuned for more information about Outer Banks and the prequel series! That's all for now, Pogues. Woogity, woogity.
