42. Louis CK: Live at the Beacon Theater

This 2011 release filmed at Manhattan’s Beacon Theater won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Special and was nominated for three others. CK starts off by struggling to start and jokes about not being sure of how to start some nights.

He moves on from there to give us some of the classic takes he’s given us in recent years, including sexual perversion in America, how great he felt when he thought of the idea to give up his seat on a plane to a soldier. He didn’t actually do it, but he felt good about thinking it.

CK has one bit about Clifford the Big Red Dog that is sure to leave you in tears as he moves toward the end of his set that included segments on board games, his irrational hatred for a little kid, how he’s too old for drugs and how he’s constantly thinking about sex.
