49. Creep

Release Year: 2014

Director: Patrick Brice

Starring: Patrick Brice, Mark Duplass

A second straight horror film featuring Mark Duplass, which would be quite a stretch if you only know him from his character on The League, but he and Patrick Brice are an effective tandem in Creep.

Josef (Duplass) hires Aaron (Brice) after answering a Craigslist ad to film a documentary of sorts after telling Aaron he’s dying and won’t be around to see his son grow up. The first scene sees Aaron recording Josef pretending to give his son a bath and later gets asked to go on a hiking trip with Josef.

When Aaron goes to retrieve a jacket for the trip he notices a wolf mask in the closet to which Josef says was from when his father used to play a friendly wolf named “Peachfuzz,” but is there such a thing as a friendly wolf?!

Josef reveals to Aaron he lied about the mask and says he wore it to rape his wife who he suspects has a habit of liking animal pornography and also says he photographed Aaron before he took the job. Aaron is totally creeped out at this point and drugs Josef and attempts to leave after getting a suspicious phone call. A return of the wolf mask and some threatening behavior from Josef continues until one of the two is no longer alive.
