Beauty in Black season 4 filming update keeps the hit Netflix series right on track

It's been two months since Tyler Perry left us with our jaws on the ground thanks to the shocking Beauty in Black season 3 finale cliffhangers. Multiple characters' lives were left on the line, leaving fans to wonder what the future hold for their fates. Thankfully, another season is on the way and will be hitting our Netflix watch lists before we know it.

The streaming service announced on Wednesday, Oct. 21 that filming has officially begun on Beauty in Black season 4 in Atlanta, Georgia. Netflix hasn't yet confirmed how many episodes the new season will contain, though it's expected to at least follow suit with season 3's eight episodes, though another super-sized season could also be on the table. We'll have to wait for confirmation.

Beauty in Black season 4 begins filming in October 2026

It's also unclear how long the fourth season will spend in production, though if there's one thing we know about Tyler Perry, it's that he's rather prolific at completing filming cycles in record timing. Beauty in Black season 3 will allegedly filmed in less than one week, in just six days, which could be the case again with season 4. By this time next week, the new episodes could be in the can.

However, that doesn't mean that Beauty in Black season 4 will be coming to our screens any faster. Considering the series has already dropped two separate batches of eight episodes this year, there's no way that Netflix will be sneaking in more episodes before 2026 ends. We should expect the series to return sometime in early 2027, likely in March like past batch releases.

Netflix also remained cagey on which cast members would be returning in season 4. Not to stoke concern among fans, but the streamer's press release didn't list any of the show's series regulars and instead stated, "Survival is not guaranteed. Cast details to be revealed at a later date." It's probably time to start getting worried about a character death taking place at the top of season 4.

The fourth season could probably contain a character death

We can at least attempt to parse some kind of idea of what to expected from Beauty in Black's new season from the official synopsis Netflix provided about season 4. The plot teases a renewed fight for the Bellarie empire, which implies and teases that some major Bellarie players are left standing after the nightclub attack and other shootings that ended season 3. Here's the official season 4 synopsis:

"In the bloody aftermath of a devastating attack that leaves fates uncertain, the fight for control of the Bellarie empire ignites a ruthless battle of revenge, betrayal, and hostile takeovers. As hidden motives surface, marriages unravel, and power plays escalate, the Bellaries must settle old scores, protect what's theirs, or risk losing everything in a war where not everyone will survive."

Beauty in Black has continued to get bigger and better with each new batch of episodes, with the third season winning the show its highest viewership debut yet. Netflix had planned to end the show with season 3 but reversed the decision at the last minute with a season 4 renewal, which more than proved to be the correct decision. There's much more drama yet to unfold with the Bellaries.
