Jason Momoa might seem like a wrestler, but he isn't. The problem is he has the size of Dewayne Johnson and John Cena, and might seem like one of the actors of that ilk, but he is much more experienced as an actor than those former wrestlers could ever be.
Still, it's easy to only see Momoa as an action star and nothing else. He is capable of drama, but lately has been full-bore into comedy. He's good at it. Opposite Jack Black in Minecraft, Momoa is the kind of goof that is needed for the role.
Andy Samberg has always been the goof we needed in most of his comedic roles, but the trick is, like Adam Sandler, he is smarter than he might seem. That translates on the screen even when we laugh at the silly things he might do.
Netflix lands untitled Jason Momoa and Andy Samberg comedy
The great part to all this is that Netflix has recently landed a new film starring Momoa and Samberg, but there is no title or plot known at this time. We know it's an action-comedy and that is about it, other than the project will be produced by Samberg's Party Over Here and Momoa's On The Roam.
Oh, and the script will be written by former Saturday Night Live writers Rob Klein and John Solomon.
There is no known release date as filming has not yet started. The project is simply in its infancy, but one with a lot of promise. Netflix was rumored to have outbid multiple streamers and studios for the rights to release the flick. Maybe it will show up in 2026.
If you want to watch Momoa before the unnamed film is dropped, there will be a lot of projects he is involved in. On August 1, Chief of War, a historical pic from Apple, will release. Momoa stars and is listed as a co-creator. Animal Friends comes out on October 10 and is a live-action/animated comedy that also features Audrey Plaza, Ryan Reynolds, and Vince Vaughn.
These are just two of many films involving Momoa to come.
Samberg also has some projects coming out soon. One releases on August 29, in which he stars in The War of the Roses remake, The Roses, along with Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
