5 Netflix holiday movies to watch during Christmas in July

It's sweltering out this summer, and still months away from Christmas, and yet you're cozying up on the couch with an iced mocha and your popcorn, ready to enjoy some Christmas movies.

You love Christmas in July when you can escape to small towns, winter festivals, and rustic lodges and watch the timeless romance in these holiday rom-coms.

While Netflix doesn't release new content for Christmas in July, the streamer features many holiday favorites that I love. However, we're traveling to small towns and luxury resorts this Christmas in July, since summer is the ideal time to travel. Maybe we'll even see some sexy Santas on our wishlist.

Christmas Inheritance

Release Date: December 15, 2017

Netflix's Christmas Inheritance followed the classic trope of a spoiled, wealthy heiress visiting a small town, which changed her perspective. Ellen London, played by Eliza Taylor, is sent by her father to his hometown of Snow Falls to deliver the annual Christmas letter and prove she's worthy of becoming CEO.

The holiday film follows her hilarious escapes as she gets used to a small town and interacts with the inn owner Jake (Jake Lacy). Once she's snowbound there, she livens the inn up and experiences Christmas in a new way. While Jake and Ellie have wonderful chemistry, his Aunt Debbie, played by the infamous Andie MacDowell, was the MVP, as she had a special touch with Ellie.

Falling for Christmas

Release Date: November 10, 2022

Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, Olivia Perez

Celebrate Christmas in July with Lindsay Lohan's return to acting. Netflix's Falling for Christmas mirrored her life in some ways as she played Sierra Beaumont, a spoiled heiress trying to find her place in life.

So much of Sierra's life was about the perfect social media post that it was almost a relief to have amnesia and be found by a handsome, single, sad Jake Russell (Chord Overstreet) and his family. While it's a common holiday trope, Falling for Christmas added humor and charm, especially as Sierra bonded with Jake's young daughter, Avy (Oliva Perez).

The film even includes festive music by both Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet, making you feel cozy at the inn with them.

The Merry Gentlemen

Do you want to enjoy the heat this summer? Then, Netflix's sizzling The Merry Gentlemen is the perfect choice. Written by Marla Sokoloff and starring Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray, this holiday musical rom-com delivers heat and romance.

After getting fired, Ashley (Robertson) returns home to her small town of Sycamore Creek. When she learns her parents need $30,000 to save the Rhythm Room, their old club, she plans "The Merry Gentlemen," a sexy, holiday-themed male routine to earn the money and save it.

No one can refuse Ashley, least of all Luke (Chad Michael Murray). This holiday film is one of my favorites for its choreographed moves and classic romantic vibes.

Holiday in the Wild

Cast:  Kristin Davis, Rob Lowe, Fezile Mpela, John Owen Lowe

Christmas in July is the perfect time to enjoy Netflix's holiday safari, Holiday in the Wild. It differs from many Netflix holiday films because it spans several months, from late summer through the holidays. It stars Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe, and the film was filmed at a sanctuary in South Africa, where Davis went to great lengths to ensure their safety.

The film follows Kate Conrad (Davis), whose husband abruptly ended their marriage, but she chose to still take the trip she had booked to South Africa. Kate fell in love with it there, especially a traumatized baby elephant that she and Derek (Lowe) rescue.

Holiday in the Wild differs from other holiday films because of the scenery. The African safari and the elephants were breathtaking, and there were different holiday traditions celebrated there. But romance and love prevail.

My Secret Santa

Release Date: December 3, 2025

Cast: Alexandria Breckenridge, Ryan Egghold, Tia Mowry

Grab your hot cocoa and relax on a cool summer night as Alexandra Breckenridge and Ryan Egghold transport you to Sun Peak ski resort in Netflix's My Secret Santa.

Breckenridge plays Taylor, a hardworking single mom who needs extra money to send her teen daughter, Zoey, to snowboarding camp at Sun Peak. She gets a crazy-but-genius idea to become the resort Santa, called "Hugh Mann." This Netflix film seemed more relatable because many parents would go to great lengths for their children.

The problem was that the resort manager's son, Matthew, liked Taylor, and the film features some comedic timing as she tries to date him and be a festive Santa Claus. Both Breckenridge and Egghold have appeared in many shows and sold the lighter material well.
