Every year when the holiday season rolls around, Netflix seems to flip a magical switch. All of a sudden, we start seeing a bunch of feel-good, heartwarming holiday movies drop on the platform. I mean, the streaming giant just gets it. It knows exactly what we want to see when the snow starts falling and the Christmas lights go up. And honestly, it never disappoints.
This year is no different. In fact, it might even be better. In 2025, Netflix released four new original Christmas movies. However, there's one that we strongly recommend checking out. It's the Christmas romantic comedy flick My Secret Santa, aka the most popular film streaming on Netflix at the moment.
Seriously, we're not joking around. It's ranked at the No. 1 spot on Netflix's top 10 movies list. Will it be replaced? Eventually, sure. That’s how the top 10 works. But right now? Right now, My Secret Santa is having its moment, and honestly, it deserves every bit of the attention it’s getting.

Directed by Michael Rohl from a screenplay co-written by Ron Oliver and Carley Smale, My Secret Santa centers around a single mom named Taylor, who finds herself in a holiday bind and ends up taking on a seasonal job that’s a little more complicated than she expected.
Her daughter Zoey, a gifted snowboarder, has just been accepted into an elite academy at the luxurious Sun Peaks ski resort. The problem? Taylor can’t afford the steep tuition. But when she discovers that Sun Peaks employees receive a massive discount on the program, she becomes determined to find a way in.
Unfortunately, the only open position is as the resort’s seasonal Santa Claus, a job Taylor obviously wasn’t expecting to apply for. Still, with her daughter’s dreams on the line, she refuses to give up. With help from her brother and his partner, Taylor then undergoes a full-blown transformation. But things become complicated after she meets and falls for Matthew, the resort’s handsome and somewhat reluctant general manager. What starts as a simple plan to secure a discount quickly turns into a juggling act of secret identities, close calls, and growing feelings she never saw coming.
Those who are fans of Virgin River will recognize the lead right away. It's none other than the talented Alexandra Breckenridge. What's so great about Breckenridge in this role is that you get to see her in a different light. My Secret Santa is a rom-com, so she gets to showcase her playful, charming, and comedic side in a way we don’t often see in her dramatic work on Virgin River.
The casting team also did a great job of pairing her up with New Amsterdam star Ryan Eggold, who plays Matthew. You never quite know if there will be chemistry between actors, but in this case, it’s undeniable.
Breckenridge and Eggold have a natural spark that makes their on-screen romance feel effortless and genuine. Honestly, it makes you want to see them paired up in future projects. The supporting cast also adds plenty of charm and humor to the mix. We're talking Barry Levy, Diana Maria Riva, Tia Mowry, and Madison MacIsaac.
Overall, you'd be missing out on a pretty solid holiday movie experience if you skipped My Secret Santa. Between the festive setting, clever premise, laugh-out-loud moments, and genuinely heartwarming romance, it hits all the right notes for a cozy Christmas watch.
