5 festive movies and shows on Netflix UK to get you in the holiday spirit

It is now well known that as soon as Halloween on Oct. 31 ends, it is time to begin the Noel preparations on Nov. 1. The great thing about the holiday season is that even if you don’t particularly enjoy it, you can relate to Scrooge or the Grinch and still feel involved in the colorful reds, greens, and golds that flood around us.

Let’s also not forget classics like Die Hard, which some argue is a festive film and others really dispute that fact, as the theme isn’t your typical winter tale, but an action movie just set in the calendar of Christmas.

Christmas movies and television shows have stood the test of time, as every year family and friends will rewatch their favorites. This may be for a burst of nostalgia or because you have been introduced to an all-time classic you may have heard of but never seen. Plus, each year there is always new Yueltide content for us to enjoy.

Netflix is one of the largest streaming platforms in the World. Each location that offers the service gives people different selections of content to choose from. Here are some that feature on Netflix UK so far that are perfect choices this November.

5. The Christmas Chronicles 1 and 2 (2018 & 2020)

A Netflix original double set of movies that focuses on a brother and sister trying to catch Santa Claus in a bid to recreate the magic of Christmas after the death of their father.

A Christmas Chronicles stars Kurt Russell as the all-singing and dancing St. Nick. There is a lot of wonder in this movie, as the siblings, along with the big man in red, try to save Christmas with his trusty elves before the season is ruined.

With two movies in this series, we also have a rare instance of both movies being equally as good and fun to watch.

4. Nativity (2009)

Nativity is an iconic British comedy that sees the kids of St. Bernadette's put on a musical extravaganza for Hollywood, who are going to be in attendance at the show. But unbeknownst to the pupils, Hollywood is not going to watch their play, and it was all a lie made up by their teacher, Mr. Madden, in a bid to make the teacher and former friend at rival school Oakmoor jealous. But with the help of support staff member Mr. Poppy, they make it their mission to bring Hollywood to Coventry in this hilarious, mostly unscripted, and improvised comedy.

3. Is it Cake? Holiday (2024)

This fun reality series sees bakers create edible masterpieces from chocolate, icing, sponge, and Rice Krispies. Getting contestants to identify cakes disguised as objects in a lineup, they then have a baking battle to compete to go through to the final and win the prize. Great entertainment and to play along with family and friends.

There are two seasons of Is it Cake? Holiday on Netflix right now.

2. That Christmas (2024)

That Christmas is an animated feature that packs a powerful punch and message. Reflective of a lot of everyday lives, this one pulls at the heartstrings and highlights the importance of community.

Set in a seaside town, this one highlights a lot of emotions, and we can all learn a lesson from it. One perfect to watch on a cold afternoon with a warm beverage.

When it comes to Christmas movies on Netflix, That Christmas is easily one of the best of the last few years.

1. Click and Collect (2018)

Click and Collect is a BBC special that runs just 53 minutes; however, it contains everything you could want from a relatable situation.

It is basically a British Jingle All the Way, where we have a dad try to source a magical unicorn toy for his daughter and travel over 300 miles to track one down. Joined by his neighbor, this is a quirky and lighthearted adventure that is a must-watch.

There will likely be more added as we get deeper into December. So make sure to check out the coming soon and new releases on Netflix UK to make sure you don’t miss out on any. If previous years are anything to go by, there will be some crackers on there — no pun intended!

Stay tuned for more great Christmas movies coming to Netflix this holiday season.
