There is always time for a blast from the past to lift spirits. Something about going back to certain time frames keeps audiences watching classic titles again and again. Of course, this doesn’t stop at film—books, games, and music will always hold up to the test of time for people to reconnect with, or maybe even discover for the first time.

Netflix is one of the strongest competitors for bringing thousands of titles to a single platform. Sometimes it is easy to have too much choice and keep scrolling until you finally land on something of interest; we have all been there! But there is a certain section of the media library that includes some all-time favorites from a fantastic era of cinema.

The decade from 2000 to 2010 produced breakthrough titles that have shaped genres within modern cinema. For those of us who grew up in that era, there is a lot of nostalgia within us. But if you want a movie night reminiscence of the noughties, here are five titles you need to stream now.

5. St Trinians (2007)

This comedy hit was a revival and fresh take on the 1954 classic, based around a school of many factions who are all together under one roof with one mission—to save the school. They decide to do this by robbing a very expensive painting to use the money to save it. Featuring an all-star cast including Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, Jodie Whittaker, Toby Jones, and Celia Imrie, it is a strong throwback to the music and fashion of 2007.

4. American Psycho (2000)

A brutal psychological drama focused around the banking executive Patrick Bateman as he delves into some dark and violent fantasies that he disguises from his co-workers via his alter-ego. This twisted tale received a lot of media attention for bringing something very different to screens, pushing the boundaries of storytelling. All these years later, it is still considered a classic and has had snippets used in viral social media trends.

3. Mean Girls (2004)

You can’t sit with us! Arguably, the biggest and most popular chick flick of all time brings comedy, fashion, friendships, plastics, and iconic quotes to the max. As Cady enrolls at a new high school, she is met by a group of girls led by Regina George with very stingy personalities—but they take her in anyway, which leads to a whole host of problems. Serving teen drama with a dash of over-the-top humor—this is an iconic staple of the naughties that has to be streamed on those late evening binge sessions.

2. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

A Quentin Tarantino staple that gave viewers a new perspective on the femme fatale character ideology, which is very important for females in film. After a pregnant assassin is attacked by her ex-boss, she has her eyes set on retribution and embarks on a journey to do so. Also known as The Bride, this action drama brings non-stop energy and ruthlessness to the character behind that iconic yellow costume.

1. The Dark Knight (2008)

A very renowned DC superhero movie that broke records and captured the hearts of old and new fans of the genre. This box office smash hit brought us Batman in ways we had never seen before through the talent of Christian Bale and Heath Ledger portraying the notable hero and villain. This will be forever known as one of the most, if not the most, popular Batman movies among fans and will always be a 2008 classic.
