Who plays Veronica in Young Sheldon? (Isabel May age, roles, and fun facts)

Young Sheldon is already proving to be a hit on Netflix, and I can honestly tell you I’m not surprised! Being a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory, I’ve personally been following the prequel series since it first debuted on CBS. Now that the first five seasons are on Netflix, I’m definitely rewatching and bing-watching! The sitcom has some great side characters, including Veronica Duncan. Just who is the actress playing Veronica, Isabel May?

We’re first introduced to the character Georgie has a crush on in season 2 episode 6, “Seven Deadly Sins and a Small Carl Sagan.” Throughout the second season, Veronica pops in and out. I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will say she goes on a spiritual journey in the second and third seasons. And she takes us on it along with her! Where else might you have seen Isabel May?

If you’re a fan of Yellowstone on The Paramount Network, you might recognize May from her role on the show’s prequel series 1883. She takes on one of the main roles, Elsa Dutton. Then in 1923, which serves as a prequel to Yellowstone and sequel to 1883, she reprised her role. Other than Young Sheldon, the Western universe has been the actress’ biggest role so far.

The talent is still sort of in the beginning stages of her career, but I think she’s starting to build résumé already! Plus, she’s great as Vernoica in Young Sheldon. That role really helped shape who she is as an actress and get things going. We shared a list of some of her acting credits below:

Young Sheldon currently has a total of six seasons out, with the first five streaming on Netflix. If you’ve made your way through all the episodes already, you can watch season 6 on Max. It was announced that the seventh season would be the end, premiering Feb. 15, 2024 on CBS.

Unfortunately, May is only seen in seasons 2 and 3. Is it possible the show will bring her back for the final season to say goodbye? Perhaps. Though her story came to a natural end and was able to be wrapped up. Plus, with where Georgie’s storyline currently is by the end of season 6, I don’t think Veronica would fit. But, hey. Never say never!

Fun facts about Isabel May

Netflix’s Alexa & Katie was May’s first acting role

May had been trying to get into the acting world since she was in seventh grade with no success. After auditioning for three years, she finally got the role of Katie in the Netflix sitcom Alexa & Katie. It ran for four seasons. This just proves that if you don’t give up, you can succeed!

May almost starred opposite KJ Apa in a DCEU movie

The actress was supposed to play opposite Riverdale actor KJ Apa in a DCEU movie, Wonder Twins. She was to take on the role of his twin sister Jayna, while he played Zan. The two aliens have special powers, Zan can transform into a form of water while Jayna can turn into any animal. However in May 2022, the movie was canceled and did not go into production due to budget cuts at Warner Bros. Discovery. That sure is disappointing as it would have been a fun story to see!

The Women’s Image Network Awards awarded May for her role as Elsa Dutton

In 2022, May was nominated and won a Women’s Image Network (WIN) award for her role as Elsa Dutton in 1883 and 1923 in the Outstanding Actress in a Made for Television Movie/Limited-Series category. Very much deserved!
