The end of the year is nigh, but Netflix still has some good content up its sleeve. This weekend, the highly-anticipated anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premieres, reuniting the cast of the live-action movie from 2010. The beginning of the end of The Crown is also here along with a new biographical drama and a Christmas movie. So what should you prioritize on your Netflix watchlist?
Apart from the new additions to the Netflix catalog this weekend, the current Top 10 movies include David Fincher’s latest The Killer and non-Netflix Originals like Minions, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Impossible, 13 Going on 30, No Hard Feelings, and Pitch Perfect.
Here’s what’s worth watching (or what you can skip) on Netflix this weekend.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
The cast of the live-action Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie from Edgar Wright is back for this endearing anime based on the popular graphic novels. In the new series, the show follows a musician as he faces off against his crushes exes.
Wright returns along with the movie cast, including the voices of Michael Cera, Chris Evans, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, and more. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off aims to infuse the series with a fresh take, inspired by Donald Glover’s Atlanta and Twin Peaks.

The Crown season 6 part 1
The Crown is no longer must-see television and doesn’t feel as captivating and prestigious as it once did. With the final season now here (at least, the first part), it feels like the show is limping along. The Crown season 6 is supposed to be about Princess Diana in the final part of her life before her passing, with focus on her relationship with Dodi Fayed.
But the season just feels very bleak and Diana takes a backseat to Prince William. Additionally, the story starts to get into the William and Kate of it all, which will surely draw mixed reactions. Unless you’re a diehard devotee to the show and the royal family, you can probably skip this season.

Rustin
Emmy Award-winning actor Colman Domingo (Euphoria) really shines in this moving biographical drama centered on political and civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, one of the many iconic figures of the Civil Rights Movement.
Rustin helped organize the 1963 March on Washington alongside Martin Luther King Jr., Ella Baker, and other remarkable leaders of the era. The film comes from director George C. Wolf, a five-time Tony Award-winning filmmaker. Chris Rock, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald also star.

Best. Christmas. Ever!
Netflix’s Christmas slate is practically nonexistent this year, so it’s a shame the streamer’s one big new holiday film is a dud. Sadly, even Brandy cannot save Best. Christmas. Ever! from being a cheesy retread of the dozens of made-for-TV Hallmark and Lifetime movies we get year after year. It’s not the worst Christmas movie you’ll ever see, and Brandy is as charismatic as ever, but you might just be better off watching some clips and listening to the soundtrack.

Lone Survivor
If you’re into military dramas then this 2013 film starring Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch might be your cup of tea. Based on a true story, Lone Survivor follows a team of Navy SEALs who find themselves stuck in a terrifying fight for survival after their mission to Afghanistan is compromised. Emile Hirsch and Ben Foster also star.
