We finally know when Arcane season 2 is coming to Netflix, but fans will have to buckle up. It’s going to be a long wait for Arcane season 2 to be released on Netflix and ready to stream.

Arcane blazed up the Netflix charts when it premiered on Nov. 6, 2021, and quickly became one of the top animated Netflix original series of all time. It has been praised for its traditional and CGI animation, plot, voice acting, and characters.

We shared everything we know about Arcane season 2. FanSided Entertainment’s Crystal George and Bryce Olin contributed to this story. We’ll update you as we learn more about the upcoming season.

Arcane season 2 is happening at Netflix

Get ready to scream “yes” from the rooftops because there will definitely be an Arcane season 2 coming to Netflix in the future! On Nov. 20, 2021, Netflix renewed the fantasy series for a second season, as reported by Deadline.

Season 1 received critical acclaim, so it comes as no surprise that Netflix went on and gave the show another go. In fact, it was regarded as the highest-rated series on the platform at the time of its premiere, topping the streaming giant’s charts in 52 countries. It even went on to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program and nine Annie Awards in 2022.

According to Netflix Geeked, production officially got started on Arcane season 2 in November 2021. Unfortunately, the first season took six years, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent. But the good news is that it won’t take that long for the second season!

Arcane season 2 release date will be in late 2024

Netflix has not announced an official release date for Arcane season 2 yet, but during Geeked Week 2023, the streamer revealed that the new season will be coming out in November 2024. The streamer even dropped a short 15-second video of Jinx walking down a bridge as a teaser.

So, it’ll be about a three-year gap between the first and second seasons. Although we would’ve liked to see the second season earlier than November, we’re just happy we don’t have to wait any longer than that.

A November 2024 release isn’t surprising because of the previous news we heard about the show. In September 2023 at the 2024 Tencent Video V Vision Conference, it was revealed that Arcane season 2 would be coming in winter 2024, according to a tweet from League of Legends Leaks & News.

Unfortunately, while January and February 2024 could be classified as “winter 2024,” we knew Arcane season 2 would not be released until Q4 (October, November, or December) 2024. If the new season had been coming in January or February 2024, it would’ve likely been teased as “early 2024.” That’s usually what happens.

So, it’s great that we know, finally, when to expect Arcane season 2, but it’s a real bummer to have to wait this long until the new season is available to stream on Netflix. We have a feeling it will be worth it, though.

It’s possible that Netflix could change plans. Remember, nothing is official until Netflix announces the release date. Even then, the release date or release window could be changed. That’s happened in the past.

Initially, we were hoping to see Arcane season 2 in 2022, but that was too early. In November 2021, Laurent tweeted that Arcane season 2 wouldn’t be coming in 2022.

According to a report from The Direct, Laurent also confirmed we would not see Arcane season 2 in 2023. He mentioned in an interview that the new season was not ready, but he had seen episode 3 of the second season, so it seems like progress had been made on the new season.

We’ll definitely share the official release date once it’s announced.

Release: November 2024

Check out this first-look of the second season!

The teaser features the character Singed who seems to be receiving a blood transfusion. We also get a glimpse of what seems to be the character Warwick hanging above him.

Cast

Deadline also reported that the series’ main stars will be reprising their roles in the second installment. Hailee Steinfeld will be returning as Vi, Ella Purnell as Jinx, and Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman.

We also expect most of the main cast from the first season to return in the second season. We list the expected returning cast members below:

  • Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
  • Ella Purnell as Jinx
  • Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman
  • Mia Sinclair Jenness as Young Powder
  • Kevin Alejandro as Jayce Talis
  • Molly Harris as Young Caitlyn
  • Toks Olagundoye as Mel Medarda
  • Harry Lloyd as Viktor
  • Reed Shannon as Ekko
  • JB Blanc as Vander and Bolbok
  • Miles Brown as Young Ekko

There might be some new characters introduced in the second season, and we’ll make sure to let you know if there will be new additions.

The second season is executive-produced by co-creator Christian Linke, Marc Merrill, Brandon Beck, Jane Chung, and Thomas Vu.

Check out the season 2 renewal announcement video below.

We haven’t seen the full trailer for Arcane season 2 yet, but Netflix did release a teaser for season 2 with the renewal announcement.

Netflix has not released an official season 2 synopsis as of yet, but as the show gets further into production, we expect a synopsis to be released. However, we will say that based on the huge cliffhanger at the end of the first season, the first couple of episodes of season 2 will most likely deal with the aftermath of what happened in the final episode of season 1.

Here’s what the show is about via Netflix:

"Arcane tells the origin story of two iconic League of Legends champions, who just so happen to be sisters. Jinx (Ella Purnell) — also known as Powder — and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) find themselves on rival sides of a brewing war between the utopian city Piltover and its oppressed underbelly Zaun. Powder and Vi are completely transformed by the end of the first season, as Powder becomes the mischievous Jinx, and Vi proves she’s one champion you don’t want to mess with."

There is only one season of Arcane, and you can enjoy nine episodes of this fantasy series right now on Netflix, but as you know, Arcane season 2 is happening and coming to Netflix soon.

What is Arcane?

If you’re a gamer, chances are you’re very familiar with Arcane. This animated series is produced by Riot Games, the same team that brought you the top-rated video game, League of Legends. It’s a television series adaptation of League of Legends. It was created and written by Christian Linke and Alex Yee and directed by Pascal Charrue and Arnaud Delord.

Arcane serves as a prequel to the popular video game. It’s set in the League of Legends universe in the cities of Piltover and Zaun and tells the stories of two League champion sisters, Jinx and Vi. What some people love about this action-adventure series is that you don’t have to be familiar with the game to understand what’s going on. However, at the same time, fans of the game are able to see some of their favorite characters and their storylines play out on screen.
