Is Sullivan’s Crossing on Netflix? (where to watch)

There’s a new series premiering on The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 4 that fans of Netflix’s Virgin River should definitely have on their radar. Based on books also written by Virgin River author Robyn Carr, Canadian series Sullivan’s Crossing makes its American debut this fall.

The series follows a troubled neurosurgeon as she returns home to Nova Scotia amid some ongoing legal issues. Back in her hometown, she reunites with her father, who she’s been a bit estranged from, and seemingly finds potential new love with a newbie in town.

The Sullivan’s Crossing main cast includes Morgan Kohan as Maggie Sullivan, One Tree Hill star Chad Michael Murray as Cal Jones, and Gilmore Girls star Scott Patterson as Harry “Sully” Sullivan as the leading characters. Virgin River fans will also recognize Lynda Boyd and Lauren Hammersley in recurring supporting roles.

Where to watch Sullivan’s Crossing

Unfortunately, the show isn’t available to stream on Netflix in the United States at this time. While things could change in the future, The CW no longer has a streaming deal with Netflix for its new shows. The network’s deal with the streaming service ended in 2019, which sent any new CW shows to other streamers, particularly Max. (All American and its spin-off Homecoming still stream on Netflix.)

However, these days, the new guard at The CW has been looking to make content that can be streamed exclusively on their own streaming service, otherwise known as their website. For now, Sullivan’s Crossing looks likely to only be available in the United States on The CW airwaves on Wednesdays at 8/7c beginning on Oct. 4, as well as its website the following Thursdays.

The show first premiered in Canada on CTV in March 2023 and ended its first season run on May 14, 2023. For those in Canada, the 10-episode first season is available to stream with a log-in on CTV’s website. Prior to airing in the United States in October, The CW and CTV announced that they had renewed the show for season 2, now as a co-production.

If The CW and Netflix are smart, they would consider striking a deal on Sullivan’s Crossing. For starters, the show shares strong DNA with the streamer’s hit romantic drama Virgin River since they are both based on books by the same author. Likewise, Chad Michael Murray and Scott Patterson both appeared as fan-favorites on Gilmore Girls, another show popular on Netflix. Come on! Give the fans what they want, which will certainly be this show!

Whether you’re planning to check out the new series on TV or online, there are plenty of similar options to watch in its place on Netflix. Of course, Virgin River and Gilmore Girls are the most obvious picks, but viewers should also check out Sweet Magnolias, Heartland, Firefly Lane, From Scratch, and Surviving Summer.
