Since 2013, The Blacklist has been one of the most popular shows on television. James Spader stars in the NBC crime thriller as Raymond “Red” Reddington, and for over 200 episodes, fans haven’t been able to get enough of the binge-worthy series, so much so that they’re now wondering whether The Blacklist season 11 will be coming soon.
The Blacklist season 10 premiered on NBC in February 2023 and aired 22 episodes until its finale in July 2023. Now, fans who keep up with the show will be waiting to binge-watch the latest season to see what’s next for Red. But is season 10 the final season?
For those who kept up with the series as it airs and those who will binge-watch season 10 on Netflix later on this year, here’s what you need to know about whether The Blacklist season 11 will soon follow season 10. If you’re hoping for an eleventh season, there’s some bad news.
Will there be a The Blacklist season 11?
Unfortunately for fans, The Blacklist season 11 isn’t happening. NBC previously announced that The Blacklist season 10 would be the final season of the hit series. Being so, the season 10 finale is also The Blacklist’s official series finale. Thankfully, fans were able to receive a satisfying end to the series without having to worry about the potential of a cliffhanger.
Currently, we’re expecting the final season to start streaming on Netflix sometime this year, potentially late fall or in December. Of course, the Netflix release could be pushed into 2024 or the season could drop earlier in the fall. The series doesn’t have a set release pattern like that of The CW’s shows or even Grey’s Anatomy.
Ahead of the season 10 premiere in February, NBC broke the news that the series would end with season 10, meaning after 10 years and 218 episodes, The Blacklist is over. We won’t give away any spoilers from the series finale out of respect for those planning to catch up on Netflix, but the ending ties up the series and answers some lingering questions.
Of course, there’s always a chance in the future that NBC could opt to develop another spinoff. The network made an attempt at a spinoff back in 2017 with The Blacklist: Redemption, which only lasted for one season of eight episodes. But since the series has been so successful, NBC might want to expand the universe in the future. We’ll have to wait and see what could happen.
