The ninth season of The Blacklist has made an impressive showing on Netflix by hitting the top 10 upon its arrival in early October 2022. Since burning up the most-watched shows ranking, fans have been curious about the standing of The Blacklist season 10.

James Spader has been the star of The Blacklist since its premiere on NBC in September 2013, and season 9 was the beginning of a new era for the series both on and off-screen. After a major character departure, the crime thriller revamped its storyline, which appears to have paid off.

But following the Netflix streaming success, when can fans expect to dive into another new season of the hit series? Here’s what we know so far about season 10!

Will there be a The Blacklist season 10?

Yes! If you’ve just finished binge-watching The Blacklist season 9 on Netflix, you will be pleased to know that NBC renewed the series for season 10 on Feb. 22, 2022. The tenth season has been confirmed to contain a full 22-episode order.

James Spader will again reprise his role as the lead character Raymond “Red” Reddington in The Blacklist season 10, which will be the second season without Megan Boone as Liz and creator Jon Bokenkamp as showrunner. John Eisendrath remains on board as showrunner.

Will The Blacklist season 10 be the final season?

On Feb. 1, 2023, NBC announced that the tenth season of the fan-favorite series would be its last. The Blacklist season 10 will help the series pass the landmark milestone of producing over 200 episodes. While it’s definitely going to be bittersweet to say goodbye, there’s still a lot for fans to look forward to from the sure-to-be exciting final season!

When does The Blacklist come back?

Along with the announcement that season 10 would be the show’s last, NBC also revealed the premiere date for the final season. The Blacklist season 10 will begin airing on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 10/9c on NBC. The episodes will also stream next day on Peacock.

Even though NBC renewed The Blacklist for season 10, the network opted to keep the long-running veteran series on the bench until midseason. That means, season 10 didn’t premiere on the fall schedule in September or October with other hit NBC series like the One Chicago franchise, La Brea, Law & Order, New Amsterdam, and more.

The series previously had a midseason premiere for its sixth season, when it premiered on Jan. 3, 2019. As of October 2022, NBC hasn’t yet announced its midseason schedule. The Blacklist could return with season 10 as early as January 2023, but stay tuned for the official premiere date.

When will The Blacklist season 10 be on Netflix? (predictions)

Unlike acquired shows with Netflix streaming deals like Grey’s Anatomy and Outlander, NBC’s The Blacklist doesn’t have a release pattern that’s down to a science. However, we do know that new seasons arrive a few months after its televised finale and ahead of the next season’s premiere.

The Blacklist season 9 concluded its NBC run on May 27, 2022 and was later added to Netflix in the United States on Oct. 6, 2022. That was about five months of waiting after the season finale. Since season 10 premieres in late February, the length of its run on NBC will determine its Netflix release date. For now, we can bank on the season arriving on Netflix by around fall or winter 2023.
