Quarterback season 1 is streaming now on Netflix and has quickly given fans a lot to talk about. The new 8-episode docuseries takes fans beyond the gridiron to follow the lives of NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota throughout the 2022 NFL season.

The show brings fans an unprecedented look into the professional and personal lives of the three star quarterbacks, spotlighting the ups and downs that fans don’t often get to see.

While each quarterback gets a decent amount of screentime in the season, it’s understandable that Mahomes, as the reigning Super Bowl champion, is at the center of the spotlight. The 2022 season saw Mahomes lead his team to another Super Bowl victory, so it’s fitting that the show put a larger focus on his journey across the season.

Along that journey, we get to see the work that goes into being a starting quarterback in the league beyond game day including the toll it takes on the players’ bodies and the balance they must find between the game and family life. To paint this broader picture, the docuseries brings in many key members from each quarterback’s inner circle including their wives and those closest to them.

Across the episodes, we see many key figures from Mahomes’ life appear including his wife Brittany Mahomes, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, and trainers who help Mahomes prepare for game day. However, there is one key member of Mahomes’ inner circle who was omitted from the series: how often controversial brother, Jackson Mahomes.

Is Jackson Mahomes in Quarterback on Netflix?

Technically, Jackson Mahomes does appear in the first season of Quarterback on Netflix, but not in the type of role many anticipated he might be featured. While Jackson is a key member of Patrick Mahomes’ inner circle and has been present at many of Patrick’s biggest moments including his various playoff and Super Bowl appearances, Jackson did not secure a role in Quarterback.

Across the eight episodes, we do see Jackson in the background of various scenes which makes sense given his place in Patrick’s close inner circle. However, Jackson is never directly interviewed by the documentary crew and we never hear from him directly in the show with his only inclusion coming via his presence in the background.

Why isn’t Jackson Mahomes in Quarterback season 1?

It’s unclear why Jackson Mahomes is not featured directly in any portion of Quarterback season 1, but the decision was likely due to the overall direction of the documentary rather. Across the eight episodes, we don’t hear much from other members of the featured quarterback’s family outside of their respective wives who are spotlighted across the show. It’s then the likes of fellow players, coaches, and trainers who we get further insights from.

While other relatives do appear including siblings and parents, most do not have speaking parts in the documentary which keeps a tightly closed circle when it comes to the individuals who are mic’d up across the show. This is why we see Jackson Mahomes in the series, but we never hear from him directly in the show.
