Uncoupled

Some people will say that they “saw this one coming,” but that doesn’t make the cancellation of Uncoupled sting any less. In fact, you can look at all the stats you’d like for any show, but the know-it-all mindset of “that’s going to be canceled” doesn’t end up meaning anything.

Sure, the Neil Patrick Harris romantic comedy series made nary a dent on the Netflix top 10 and wasn’t one of the knockout releases of summer 2022. But its star power and connection to Emily in Paris creator Darren Star gave it an edge. Sadly, that wasn’t good enough to warrant a second season of a comedy series that was just getting started.

Dead End: Paranormal Park

Another animated series was rocked by a surprise cancellation in January 2023. Dead End: Paranormal Park, a fan-favorite animated horror comedy, released two seasons in 2022 and seemed like a cult favorite for the streamer. Suddenly, a second show with necessary representation was abruptly ended without reason, within days of each other, and the decision again announced by the series’ creator rather than Netflix. God, it’s brutal out here!
