Netflix subscribers have had a rough start to the year as the streaming service has reportedly canceled yet another show. Dead End: Paranormal Park will not be getting a third season, says creator Hamish Steele.

The news comes on the heels of Inside Job‘s un-renewal and the somewhat abrupt cancellation of 1899. In all three cases, it was the creators themselves that broke the news. In the case of Dead End: Paranormal Park, Steele says that he has been sitting on the news for a while but has been trying hard to convince Netflix to change their minds. Unfortunately, Steele was unable to save the show.

This show’s cancellation is particularly tragic because it had a big LGBTQIA+ fanbase thanks to its protagonist being a gay trans teen played by trans actor Zach Barack. Additionally, the show had a diverse cast of characters, so it’s a shame it won’t continue.

Netflix cancels Dead End: Paranormal Park after two seasons

According to a statement from Dead End: Paranormal Park creator Hamish Steele, Netflix has chosen not to move forward with a third season of Dead End: Paranormal Park, effectively canceling the show after two seasons and 20 episodes.

In Steele’s statement, they claimed that a writer’s room had already been assembled for a third season and implied it would have been the final season to provide proper closure to the characters.

“We have scripts and designs and outlines ready to go. It was always the plan to give these characters the proper ending they deserve. But sadly, the powers that be don’t want any more,” Steele wrote.

On the plus side, the writer did say they were still hard at work on the third and final DeadEndia book, which should provide fans with some closure.
