5 good Netflix shows this weekend: Vikings Valhalla, Sky Rojo, Break Point and more

A new week means new releases, and this weekend there are many Netflix shows ready to help you enjoy some much-needed downtime. Don’t miss the latest releases, including The Walking Dead’s final season, Vikings: Valhalla, Kaleidoscope, and the new Indian mini-series Trial By Fire, based on actual events.

The Top 10 shows in the US list reveals that Wednesday is still holding on but has been downgraded to number five. Ginny & Georgia has taken over number one with the release of its second season, followed by Vikings Valhalla, New Amsterdam, and The Walking Dead. 

Several new movies have made their way to the streamer this week, including The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker and Dog Gone. Other popular films include The Pale Blue Eye starring Christan Bale and Harry Melling, Glass Onion: a Knives Out Mystery, Leap Year, and Daddy Day Care. 

February 2023 will see a great list of new releases, including the return of Outer Banks and You. And don’t miss the new rom-com Your Place or Mine, starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2

The second season of the historical drama Vikings: Valhalla was recently released on Netflix. This series is a prequel to History’s Vikings, which ran for six seasons.

Valhalla takes place 100 years after events of the original that features the beginning of the end of the Viking Age. The story features Viking legends Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Harald Sigurdsson as they fight for survival and glory.

Pressure Cooker

Pressure Cooker is the first-ever house cooking show that not only pits professional chefs’ talents against one another but also requires them to cohabitate.

The series features 11 chefs who are out to prove that they possess the qualities to thrive in the cutthroat culinary world. Another twist to this cooking competition is that there are no judges; the chefs are judged by their fellow chefs, who are always looking out for number one.

Break Point part 1

The new series Break Point follows top tennis players in their personal and professional lives as athletes while competing in Grand Slams and worldwide tournaments. This series looks at the new generation of tennis players competing over a year-long time frame.

Break Point features the highs and lows of tennis, including severe injuries, emotional heartbreak, and exciting victories, as well as a look into their personal lives off the court.

Sky Rojo season 3

Season 3 of the Spanish comedy action drama Sky Rojo begins where season 2 left off. The story follows three prostitutes who break away from their pimp and the events that follow such an act.

The three ladies are followed by their ex-pimp and his accomplices. Just when they believe their lives are beginning to take a turn for the better, their past catches back up with them. This is when they realize they must bury the past or bury Romeo, their former pimp.

Trial by Fire limited series

The Hindi-language limited series Trial by Fire is based on the actual events of a deadly fire in Uphaar Cinema in 1997, located in South Delhi. The series is based on a novel by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy.

The story follows the Krishnamoorthy’s story of losing their two children in the tragic event and their path to see that justice is served. The fire injured approximately 100, with 59 being killed and investigations into the blaze have revealed several fire code violations at the theater.
