New Netflix movies and shows coming in February 2023

As 2023 gets into full swing, Netflix’s upcoming year of new content gets more exciting with each passing week. There’s so much to look forward to this year, including the returns of Outer Banks and You, as well as Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s new rom-com — and that’s all in February!

New seasons of Outer Banks and You might be the marquee releases of the month, but February also boasts the new spinoff of a beloved Netflix original, another batch of episodes of the latest hit sitcom, and an adventurous and inspirational movie.

Following a month of huge new releases like Ginny & Georgia, Vikings: Valhalla, and That ’90s Show, Netflix continues the year with even more new shows and movies that will have everyone talking. Here’s everything to look forward to in February 2023.

New Netflix movies February 2023

While there are plenty new Netflix movies set to be released in 2023, the year has started off a little slower when it comes to movies. In February, the adventure drama True Spirit and the romantic comedy Your Place or Mine are the top new releases.

True Spirit

Release Date: Feb. 3

Based on the inspirational true story, True Spirit stars Teagan Croft as Jessica Watson, a fearless young sailor with the intention of becoming the youngest person to sail around the world by herself. She sets off on her sail and finds herself overcoming her fears in the most intimidating parts of the ocean. Anna Paquin, Josh Lawson, and Cliff Curtis also star in the movie releasing Feb. 3 on Netflix.

Your Place or Mine

Release Date: Feb. 10

For the first time, romantic comedy veterans Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher team up for Netflix’s Your Place or Mine on Feb. 10. The pair play best friends who swap houses, and thus lives, on opposite coasts and discover they might have been missing out on what they really want from life. It’s the perfect new release movie to watch for Valentine’s Day.

New Netflix shows February 2023

Even though the new movie releases are on the light side, February looks to be an incredible month for Netflix shows. Highly anticipated titles like You and Outer Banks are making comebacks, and a new series premiere could usher in the next big Netflix show.

Freeridge

Release Date: Feb. 2

That next big Netflix show could be Freeridge, the spinoff of the critically acclaimed coming-of-age dramedy On My Block. Another comedy series based on teens, Freeridge centers on siblings and rivals Gloria (Keyla Monterroso Mejia) and Ines (Bryana Salaz) and their friends as they deal with a curse that has turned their lives upside down. Don’t miss the spinoff’s premiere on Feb. 2.

You season 4 part 1

Release Date: Feb. 9

Joe Goldberg is back for more mess in You season 4 part 1, and he’s changed locations. Now using the persona of Professor Jonathan Moore in London, Joe’s still up to his old tricks. The first five episodes of the fourth season drop on Feb. 9, and the remaining five will be released one month later on March 9. You can’t go wrong with a double dose of You!

The Upshaws part 3

Release Date: Feb. 16

Certainly one of the most underrated shows on Netflix, the sitcom The Upshaws returns with its third part of episodes on Feb. 16. In these eight new episodes, the Upshaw family continues stick by each other’s sides through thick in thin, no matter how difficult it might get. Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes star in the comedy that’s already been renewed for another season.

Outer Banks season 3

Release Date: Feb. 23

Prepare for a landing on Poguelandia! Our beloved but troubled Pogues are back in Outer Banks season 3, which raises the stakes for John B, Sarah, JJ, Kie, Pope, and Cleo. A new treasure hunt gets underway while Ward and Rafe are still set on revenge. The Pogues can’t trust anyone but each other in the 10 new episodes finally hitting our watch lists on Feb. 23.
