Canceled Netflix shows are a dime a dozen these days, with the streaming service axing many series before they can even hope to find an audience. How many series did Netflix cancel in 2022?

Remember when the “Netflix Original” tag was synonymous with quality and the confidence that you were about to watch a show and see it through to completion and an ending? That’s far from the case nowadays when Netflix seems to cancel shows more often than renewing them. In 2022, Netflix canceled more than a dozen original shows, and a few didn’t even get the chance to air.

Below we’ll look into the exact number of canceled Netflix shows generated in 2022, focusing on the big cancellations. We aren’t including shows that came to an end, like Ozark, Dead to Me, Locke & Key, and Grace and Frankie, since those are series that actually had proper endings and weren’t abruptly canceled.

We also won’t include shows where their fate is left in the air. There are many series Netflix never canceled or renewed, so they’re still in limbo, although we can probably assume they’re not returning, shows like In From the Cold, Farzar, and others.

How many shows did Netflix cancel in 2022?

Netflix canceled a whopping 24 shows in 2022. Let’s hope they don’t get anywhere near that number in 2023, but they’re not off to a great start having already canceled 1899 and un-renewed Inside Job.

All canceled Netflix shows 2022

  • Adventure Beast
  • Another Life
  • Archive 81
  • The Baby-Sitters Club
  • Bad Crimes
  • The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself
  • Bone
  • Blockbuster
  • Cooking with Paris
  • Fate: The Winx Saga
  • First Kill
  • Gentefied
  • Grendel
  • The Imperfects
  • The Midnight Club
  • The Midnight Gospel
  • On the Verge
  • Partner Track
  • Pretty Smart
  • Q-Force
  • Raising Dion
  • Resident Evil
  • Space Force
  • Warrior Nun

It’s unfortunate that so many great shows were canceled after just one season or mid-way through their run. Fans are passionately campaigning to save series like Warrior Nun and The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, but sadly the odds are stacked against them as it is very rare for Netflix shows to get picked up by other services.
