Stranger Things and the 16 best Netflix original series of 2022
Best Netflix original series 2022: The Lincoln Lawyer
I think I can speak for everyone when I say The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix is amazing. It’s a legal drama series created by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey. Like many Netflix originals, The Lincoln Lawyer is based on a book. It’s based on the bestselling novel The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly.
The legal drama follows Los Angeles defense lawyer Mickey Haller as he works to restart his career. But instead of working in an office, Mickey prefers to work out of the backseat of his Lincoln Navigator. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo portrays the role of Mickey Haller. Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, Christopher Gorham, and many other talented actors also star in the series.
Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about a second season because Netflix renewed the show for another installment in June. The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 will be based on the fourth book in The Lincoln Lawyer book series called The Fifth Witness. Production on the second season began on Oct. 31, according to an Instagram post by Connelly. Filming is expected to finish on March 23, 2023, and then the episodes should immediately enter post-production. For now, we’re expecting a 2023 release.
Best Netflix original series 2022: Heartstopper
Heartstopper stole our hearts when it premiered on Netflix on April 22. It was an instant hit with tons of people tuning in to see what the British teen series was all about. It also received critical acclaim for its representation of the LGBTQ+ community, among other things.
Based on Alice Oseman’s webcomic and graphic novel of the same name comes a show about two teen boys from different social groups who meet at secondary school and quickly discover their fast friendship is blossoming into a romance. Rising stars Joe Locke and Kit Connor star in the leading roles of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, respectively.
The first season consists of eight episodes with runtimes ranging from 26 to 33 minutes. Since the episode runtimes are short, it makes for an easy binge. However, it also leaves you wanting more after you quickly finish the eighth episode. Fortunately, Netflix renewed the teen series for a second and third season on May 20.
Production on Heartstopper season 2 officially started on Sept. 22. Filming on the second season is rumored to wrap sometime in December, but nothing is set in stone yet. However, you can expect all the main cast members to return in the upcoming season. Additionally, there will be new cast members, such as Bel Priestley, Ash Self, Thibault de Montalembert, Leila Khan, Jack Barton, Nima Taleghani, and Bradley Riches. A 2023 release is also expected for Heartstopper season 2.
