Are you looking for something good to watch for Halloween weekend? Well, our favorite streamer has just what you need with the release of Wendell & Wild on Friday, Oct. 28. If you would like to know more about this upcoming Netflix movie, all you have to do is continue reading.

Wendell & Wild is a stop-motion animated film from Academy Award-nominated director Henry Selick. He’s best known for helming the stop-motion animated movies The Nightmare Before ChristmasJames and the Giant Peach and Coraline. Selick also co-wrote the screenplay for Wendell & Wild with Nope‘s Jordan Peele.

The story follows two scheming demon brothers who enlist the help of a punk rock-loving teen girl to summon them to the Land of the Living so they can live out their dreams of building their own amusement park. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele star as the two devious demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, and the teen girl is voiced by This Is Us star Lyric Ross. While watching the film, you might recognize some of the other voices like Angela Bassett, James Hong, Ving Rhames, Sam Zelaya, Tamara Smart, Ramona Young, Natalie Martinez, Gabrielle Dennis, Maxine Peake, etc.

Now, is this movie okay for kids? Can it be added to your list of movies to watch on family movie night? Below, we shared the parents guide and age rating.

Wendell & Wild parents guide and age rating

Wendell & Wild is rated PG-13, meaning this film may be inappropriate for ages 12 and under. It was given this age rating for some thematic material, violence, substance use, and brief strong language. Since the movie centers around demons, it comes as no surprise that it isn’t suitable for younger audiences.

If you just watch the trailer, you’ll find many scenes from the movie that would be frightening for younger kids. There is a clip where a demon’s hands are coming out of somebody’s body, a person opening up a coffin filled with bugs, and skeletons walking around. Even Wendell and Wild’s appearances may be scary to some kids. Overall, you can watch this movie with older kids, but we recommend finding something else for the younger kids to watch.
