It was helmed by Chris Williams, whose known for co-directing the animated films Bolt, Big Hero 6, and Moana. It’s about a legendary sea monster hunter and a young orphan girl who joins his crew in search of a sea beast named the Red Bluster. Surprisingly, the sea monster hunter and the girl end up befriending what they thought was a terrifying monster. The animation is visually stunning, the plot will pull you in right away, and it’s pretty action-packed. We give it a 10/10 and believe you and your family will as well once you see it!

Yes Day

Yes Day is definitely one of the best family movies on Netflix, and there’s just no arguing that. It stars Jennifer Garner and Édgar Ramírez as parents who give their children one day where they can request the most wildest things, and they have to say yes. Overall, this family comedy is very entertaining, has the perfect pinch of humor, and is relatable to kids and adults. You must check this one out for yourself!

The Mitchells vs. the Machines

Were you really expecting us not to include the Academy Award-winning film, The Mitchells vs. the Machines? Everything about this film makes it perfect to watch with the family. The story centers around a quirky family who decide to go on a cross-country road trip together only to find themselves in the middle of a robot apocalypse. Now, they must come together to save themselves and the planet from a robot uprising.  If you love The Sea Beast‘s animation, you’re going to absolutely love The Mitchells vs. the Machines. This movie is hilariously funny, heartwarming, and has so much charm. So, go ahead and add it to your watchlist.

Vivo

Sometimes on movie night, the family wants to watch something they can sing along with. We’ve got just the movie! Vivo is an animated musical adventure that follows a music-loving kinkajou as he goes on a journey to deliver a love song for an old friend. The talented voice cast includes Lin Manuel Miranda, Zoe Saldana, Juan de Marcos, Brian Tyree Henry, Michael Rooker, Nicole Byer, Ynairaly Simo, and Gloria Estefan. It’s another feel-good, heartfelt film that the whole family can enjoy.

We Can Be Heroes

Family movie night should always include a superhero movie, in my opinion. We Can Be Heroes follows a group of superkids who band together to save their superhero parents and the rest of the world from alien invaders. It’s an amazing movie with a deeper message behind it all. And guess what! A sequel is currently in development. So, there will be more crazy adventures the superkids will embark on.

Finding ‘Ohana

Finding ‘Ohana is a fun family adventure film. It follows two Brooklyn-raised siblings who reluctantly travel to rural O‘ahu with their family for the summer. But when they find a journal leading to long-lost treasure, what they thought would be a boring summer takes an exciting turn. This film has many life lessons and is definitely something the kids will enjoy. It has just enough action, comedy, and adventure. We highly recommend adding this to your watchlist.

Paddington

Netflix made the right decision by acquiring licensing rights to Paddington. The 2014 live-action animated film is absolutely delightful and appealing to children and adults alike. Based on the stories of the character Paddington Bear, comes a movie about a young bear who migrates from the jungles of Peru to London in search of a new home. Eventually, the bear finds shelter with the Brown family and settles into his new life. However, he has to be watchful of taxidermist Millicent Clyde whose looking to add him to her collection. Overall, it’s a good-hearted film filled with laugh-out-loud comedy.

Back to the Outback

If the Madagascar film series is something that you and your family watch a lot on movie night, then you’ll love Back to the Outback. The story follows a group of Australia’s deadliest animals who plot an escape from their zoo to the Outback. There’s a lot to love about this movie. The characters are loveable, the soundtrack is incredible, the animation is great, and the plot is well thought out. There’s absolutely no doubt that Back to the Outback is one of the best family movies on Netflix.
