Who is The Watcher in The Watcher on Netflix?
The Watcher’s identity is never revealed. However, we’re first led to believe that private detective Theodora Birch is the person behind the creepy letters in the final episode. At the beginning of the last episode, Theodora tells Dean while lying in a hospital bed that she was the previous owner of the 657 Boulevard house and that she is The Watcher.
Theodora explains to Dean that she bought the house after her husband died, but shortly after she moved in, she was diagnosed with cancer. Although she found a doctor who claimed he could cure cancer, the treatments were too expensive, so she had to sell the house. Then, she finds hidden money from her late husband to pay for the treatments, but the Brannocks had already moved in. Theodora explains to Dean that she started sending the letters to get them to sell the house so she could buy it back.
After his conversation with Theodora, Dean goes to Maureen’s house to apologize for his past behavior. He tells Maureen he found out that The Watcher was Theodora, the old owner of the 657 Boulevard house. But Maureen tells him nobody named Theodora ever lived at that house. Dean is left shocked by what he just found out.
Dean and Nora then attend Theodora’s funeral and talks to her daughter. Theodora’s daughter reveals to Dean and Nora why Theodora lied about being The Watcher. She tells them that Theodora wanted to solve the case before she died and wanted to give them peace. So now, Dean and Nora are back at square one on finding who The Watcher is.
Later, Karen Calhoun buys the house from the Brannocks as an LLC but ends up selling it after she receives a letter from The Watcher and after seeing a mysterious person walking around the house. The episode ends with a new family living at the 657 Boulevard house and The Watcher never being found.
The Watcher is streaming now only on Netflix.
