Is The Watcher based on a true story?

Yes! It is based on a true story that was first published in a magazine called The Cut. It concerns the Broaddus family and their horrible experience of buying their supposed dream house in 2014. Shortly after Derek and Maria Broaddus bought the 657 Boulevard house in Westfield, New Jersey, they started receiving ominous letters from an anonymous stalker. They sought help from the police, private investigators, and even FBI agents to track down the culprit but ultimately came up empty. Eventually, the Broadduses couldn’t take the harassment anymore and sold the house. In July 2019, the 657 Boulevard house was sold to Andrew and Allison Carr for $959,360, which was significantly less than what the Broaddus family bought it for.

How to watch The Watcher
