In case you haven’t heard, a new scripted series chronicling the shocking crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer hits Netflix tomorrow, Sept. 21. American Horror Story alum Evan Peters will portray the notorious serial killer in the 10-episode show from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, titled Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. While the murders committed by the Milwaukee Cannibal are widely known by true crime fans, the upcoming show will focus on the victims rather than Dahmer.
If you’re curious to learn more about the life of Dahmer, Netflix is also releasing Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes on Oct. 7. In that docuseries, you’ll see more of his childhood, his heinous acts, and his trial where he was deemed legally sane.
Dahmer’s story is so infamous because of how gruesome his crimes were. Not only was he a killer, but he was also a cannibal, sex offender, and many of his murders involved necrophilia. These two upcoming Dahmer titles from Netflix are not for those who scare easily.
Between the years 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 young men in Ohio and Wisconsin, crimes he admitted to after being arrested at his apartment in ’91. Unlike most serial killers, Dahmer was very forthcoming with the details of his crimes and eventually received multiple life imprisonment sentences.
Is Jeffrey Dahmer still alive?
Dahmer was not sentenced to death, but he did die in prison not too long after he was admitted. On Nov. 28, 1994, the notorious murderer was killed in the gym bathroom of Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institute by an inmate named Christopher Scarver. Dahmer was 34 years old at the time of his death. His body was cremated and the ashes were given to Dahmer’s parents, Joyce and Lionel.
