As we inch closer to October, Netflix is getting ready to start releasing their slate of spooky content in time for Halloween. Horror fans can expect shows like The Midnight Club from Mike Flanagan and the intriguing anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. True crime junkies can binge a new season of Untold Mysteries, and Conversations With a Killer will continue with a new story, this time focusing on Jeffrey Dahmer.

Ahead of the release of the new Dahmer docuseries, the streamer is also dropping a new scripted show following the infamous serial killer, starring American Horror Story‘s Evan Peters. Fans of the actor have been looking forward to this release for a while now, and we finally have all the details on Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Clear your calendars, because Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is coming to Netflix sooner than you might think! The streamer announced today that the scripted series will drop Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. That’s less than a week away!

The cast list reveals that we’ll see a new portrayal of John Wayne Gacy in this show, another notorious serial killer. Gacy will be played by Dominic Burgess, who you might’ve seen in things like 9-1-1: Lone Star, Dr. Death, and Santa Clarita Diet.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story synopsis

Dahmer is a well-known figure because of how heinous his crimes were. The serial killer lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and murdered 17 men — at least, that’s how many he was convicted for — between the years 1978 and 1991. He’s most notorious for partaking in necrophilia and cannibalism with his victims. It’s truly a gruesome story.

Here’s the official synopsis provided by Netflix:

"“Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer gruesomely took the lives of seventeen innocent victims. DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a series that exposes these unconscionable crimes, centered around the underserved victims and their communities impacted by the systemic racism and institutional failures of the police that allowed one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade.”"

Netflix also just released the first trailer for Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and I’ve got to say, it looks great. Based on the cast, we know the acting will be good, and the trailer proves that it’s also made really well. The tone is extremely dark, as it should be, and it looks very compelling. The second trailer came out on Sept. 20, giving us a better glimpse into the victims’ stories. I’m really glad this show will be focusing on the victims and how the police handled the accusations against Dahmer, instead of glorifying the serial killer. Watch it here:
