Evan Peters is known for the many roles he’s played in various seasons of American Horror Story. Many of the characters he’s portrayed have been, as ET Canada put it best, “pretty unhinged” and “maniacal.”

He’s about to add to his repertoire for playing intense and disturbed people with a new role: as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in a forthcoming Netflix original limited series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. This will be Peters’ first Netflix show.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is produced by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the duo behind hits like American Horror Story, Scream Queens, and many more.

What else do we know about this series? Let’s take a look and see what we know so far and who the man was that Peters will portray.

Who is Jeffrey Dahmer?

Warning: some of the following content is disturbing!

Jeffrey Dahmer had several monikers, including the Milwaukee Cannibal and the Milwaukee Monster.

Between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered, dismembered, ate, participated in necrophilia and preserved body parts of 17 men and underage boys, according to the Deadline report.

Has Evan Peters portrayed a cannibal yet? If not, this role covers that.

What is Monster about?

Even though the title says it’s “the Jeffrey Dahmer story,”  and it will chronicle his murders, Deadline reports that it will be “largely told from the point of view of Dahmer’s victims, and dives deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the serial killer to go on a multiyear killing spree.”

This sets Monster apart from other movies made about Dahmer, which largely focused on the horror aspect of the story.

In addition to dramatizing at least 10 times where Dahmer was arrested but never charged and let go, the series will also “touch on white privilege,” according to the report. Many feel the cops and judges were lenient in their judgment and dealing with Dahmer, which allowed him to get away with his heinous acts for so long. Plus, many of his victims were black.

Monster cast

According to Deadline, Niecy Nash plays Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbor who not only called the police on Dahmer multiple times but also tried to get the FBI involved. To no avail in either case.

Richard Jenkins and Penelope Ann Miller play Dahmer’s mom and dad, Lionel and Joyce.

Shaun J. Brown takes on the role of a man named Tracy, who managed to escape before Dahmer could kill him and is ultimately who led to Dahmer finally getting arrested. Colin Ford, who starred in Netflix’s Daybreak, will also be in the new series.
