Joe Berlinger’s true crime docuseries Conversations with a Killer is returning for a third season on Netflix, reports Variety. The first season focused on Ted Bundy, season 2 on John Wayne Gacy, and season 3 will center on the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

The news comes on the heels of a first-look photo that shows what Evan Peters will look like as Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy’s scripted limited series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which is supposed to come out later this year. However, we still don’t have a release date for that one yet.

Netflix claims the docuseries will feature never-before-heard content, like audio interviews between Dahmer and his defense team. The three-part documentary series will delve into his warped psyche and examine his thought process through a modern lens.

There are already a lot of documentaries out there about Dahmer already, but it seems like the true crime community is always happy to learn more about this particular serial killer, so there is no doubt this one will shoot to the top of Netflix’s viewership charts.

Below you can read the show’s official description from Netflix, as reported by Variety.

"When Milwaukee police entered the apartment of 31-year-old Jeffrey Dahmer in July of 1991, they uncovered the grisly personal museum of a serial killer: a freezer full of human heads, skulls, bones and other remains in various states of decomposition and display. Dahmer quickly confessed to 16 murders in Wisconsin over the previous four years, plus one more in Ohio in 1978, as well as unimaginable acts of necrophilia and cannibalism. The discovery shocked the nation and stunned the local community, who were incensed that such a depraved killer had been allowed to operate within their city for so long. Why was Dahmer, who had been convicted of sexual assault of a minor in 1988, able to avoid suspicion and detection from police as he stalked Milwaukee’s gay scene for victims, many of whom were people of color?"

Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes release date

The third season of the series will be released on Oct. 7. There are three episodes in total.

Like the previous seasons, Berlinger will direct Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes. He is also set to executive produce alongside Catherine Park, Jon Doran, Jen Isaacson, Jon Kamen, Rusty Lemorande, Josh Modell, Jamie Fleischel, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor. Kristen Gray-Rockmaker is listed as a co-executive producer.
