Devil in Ohio is about to become your latest Netflix obsession. If you binge-watched all of Echoes and are ready to sink your teeth into a new mystery, then Daria Polatin’s series should check all the right boxes.
The series is based on Polatin’s best-selling thriller novel of the same name and stars Bones actress Emily Deschanel as hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis. She brings cult escapee Mae (Madeleine Arthur) into her home. As expected, Mae’s arrival threatens to upend the Mathis’ lives, particularly that of Suzanne’s teen daughter Jules (Xaria Dotson).
Interestingly, Polatin told TV Insider that she and Deschanel actually attended college together at Boston University, so the two had worked together previously and were friendly before collaborating on the series.
“Suzanne plays different roles in her life: She’s a doctor, she’s a mother, she’s a daughter, she’s a survivor. Emily was just such a perfect fit for that and she brought such warmth and empathy and intelligence and was so great to work with,” Polatin told the outlet.
Learn more about the Devil in Ohio cast and the characters they play in the series below. Devil in Ohio starts streaming this Friday, September 2, only on Netflix.
