Where does Echoes take place? (Is Mount Echo a real place?)

Have you started watching Echoes on Netflix? The new seven-episode thriller series features Michelle Monaghan in the lead role as a pair of identical twin sisters who regularly swap lives. But when one of the sisters goes missing, the other is thrust into a dangerous mystery.

While watching the show, much of which takes place in the woods and on a farm, you might wonder whether the locations featured are real or if they were created specifically for this fictional thriller.

Apart from Monaghan, the series also stars Matt Bomer, Karen Robinson, Ali Stroker, Victor O’Neill and Daniel Sunjata. It’s certain to keep you guessing from start to finish.

Where does Echoes take place?

The majority of Echoes takes place in Mount Echo in Virginia. That’s where Gina and Leni grew up and where Leni and Jack continue to live on a horse farm. Gina and Leni’s father, Victor, also remained in Mount Echo with their other sister Claudia.

Parts of the show also take place in Los Angeles, California where Gina moved with her husband, Charlie.

Is Mount Echo a real place?

There is a small, unincorporated community called Mount Echo in West Virginia, but it does not appear to be the same place as the fictional town where the show is set. In the show, Mount Echo is located in Virginia, not West Virginia.

Where was Echoes filmed?

According to a report from Port City Daily, filming for the show took place in Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington is a popular spot for film and television projects, especially if they have a more rural setting. The area is in the Cape Fear region and close to beaches like Carolina and Kure.
