The Sandman cast: Is Taron Egerton in The Sandman on Netflix?

On Aug. 5, Netflix’s latest adaptation of an iconic property will finally arrive with the release of The Sandman season 1.

Based on the comic book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics, The Sandman season 1 follows Dream, a powerful being who lords over all dreams and stories, as he sets out on a mission to restore his kingdom to its former glory after being imprisoned for over a century.

Along the way, fans will get the chance to meet several familiar faces from the pages of the comics that inspired the series played by a mix of TV veterans and newer faces sure to win fans over across the season.

The cast features an incredible ensemble that includes Tom Sturridge, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, David Thewlis, Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Jenna Coleman, Gwendoline Christie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Mark Hamill, John Cameron Mitchell, Vanesu Samunyai and Razane Jammal.

According to a quick Google search, you might also be led to believe Taron Egerton is also in the cast but is the Kingsman actor truly in the series?

Is Taron Egerton in The Sandman season 1?

If you’ve Googled The Sandman cast, chances are you’ve seen Taron Egerton’s name appear in the photo carousel that appears at the top of Google search showcasing the key members of the Netflix series. However, Egerton does not appear in the Netflix series and is not a part of The Sandman cast.

So why does his name appear when performing a search on Google?

The confusion revolving around Egerton’s involvement in Netflix’s The Sandman is due to his involvement in 2020’s The Sandman Podcast, a scripted podcast series from Audible which saw Egerton lending his voice to the character of John Constantine for the series. While Egerton was involved in the podcast, he will not be reprising his role as Constantine in Netflix’s series.

The Sandman season 1 arrives on Netflix on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.
