Virgin River season 4 has finally arrived, but you know what still hasn’t arrived? Charmaine’s babies. It’s a long-running joke among Virgin River fans that she’s still pregnant with the twins, a storyline that has been dragging on for multiple seasons.

But all jokes aside, Charmaine’s pregnancy has been a major source of drama in the series, particularly for Jack, the father of the babies. In Virgin River season 3, Jack and Charmaine clashed over how to best care of their children and it nearly went legal.

Now that Mel could also be pregnant with Jack’s baby, the situation will surely heat up. The new season finds the couple grappling with the bombshell reveal from the previous season as Jack’s drinking problem seems to reach a tipping point in the face of pressure.

Last year, there was a popular fan theory that stated Jack wasn’t actually the father of Charmaine’s babies. But are there any developments in Virgin River season 4 that lend any truth to the theory? Here’s what went down for Charmaine in season 4!

WARNING: Spoilers ahead from the Virgin River season 4 finale!

Is Jack the father of Charmaine’s babies in Virgin River season 4?

In the season 4 finale of Virgin River, Mel and Jack rush to Charmaine’s home after Jack receives a frantic photo call from the expectant mother of two. Once they arrive at the house, they find Charmaine lying on the floor and saying she’s unable to breathe.

She expresses that she’s afraid she’s going to lose her babies, but Mel insists that she won’t. When Charmaine continues, she says that what she’s currently going through is due to karma because she lied. According to Charmaine, Jack isn’t the father of the twins.

It’s a shocking revelation for both Mel and Jack, but it will definitely be an “I KNEW IT!” moment for many Virgin River fans when they get to the season-ending cliffhanger.

Since she’s in distress, Charmaine didn’t elaborate on who the father is. But we now that we can rule out Jack (second paternity test pending), and there are other potential fathers. Of course, the father could be Charmaine’s husband Todd, though the timing might be a wee bit off.

Could it be someone we already know? Preacher? Mike? Brady?! It’s unlikely that any of those three main characters crossed paths with Charmaine (even though we could make an excellent case as to why Brady being the father would make for incredible television).
