Virgin River season 3’s premiere seemed to have presented more questions than it needed to answer, but as diehard fans can attest, we’ll take all the drama the Netflix original can spare.

When we last left the remote coastal Northern California town, expectant father Jack found himself at the wrong end of a gun at his eponymous bar and local haunt. Naturally, our guy is otherwise indestructible and he lived to see season 3 and all the chaos of impending fatherhood.

Because of all the trouble that’s amounted ahead of the birth of Jack and Charmaine’s twins, astute fans have hypothesized that maybe Jack’s one-time flame might not have been honest about the paternity of her twins. Is Jack the real father of Jack’s twins?

Thankfully, Virgin River season 3 offered some answers on that front, or at least tangible evidence that we can use to apply either a yes or a no. What’s more, there’s additional paternity bombshells to sort through from the latest season of the fan-favorite romantic drama. (Spoiler warning!)

Is Charmaine pregnant with Jack’s twins?

If there’s any truth to the speculation that Jack isn’t actually the father of Charmaine’s twins, it’s not explored in Virgin River season 3. In fact, it would be pretty strange for Charmaine and her new husband, Todd, to attempt to cut Jack out of the twins’ lives if she had lied. Wouldn’t she just tell him the truth?

Fans mused that the father of the twins could be either Jack’s Marine buddy Mike or Jack’s estranged Marine buddy Brady. Neither of those theories were present in season 3, and much of the story surrounding the twins revolved around custody arrangements rather than paternity scandals.

Who is the father of Mel’s baby?

However, if Jack should be suspicious of someone’s pregnancy, it’s Mel’s. In the final moments of the season, Mel tells Jack that she’s pregnant, which was a huge point of contention for the couple in season 3 (and even split them up). But that’s not all… She’s not sure if he’s the father.

While accompanying her sister to her divorce proceedings in Los Angeles, Mel makes a side trip to the fertility clinic where two more of her and her late husband’s embryos reside. We’re not privy to whether Mel went through with the procedure, but it’s clear that she did if she isn’t sure whose baby she’s carrying.

Who do you think is the father of Mel’s baby, and are you still a truther of the theory that Jack isn’t the father of Charmaine’s twins? Sound off on all things Virgin River in the comments!
