The creators of Stranger Things — Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers — have created such an iconic show. If there’s one thing we have to highlight that they got right, it’s definitely the characters.
There’s so many we’ve been introduced to over the four seasons. Some since the very start of the Netflix hit, others are newcomers we’ve met along the way. But there’s one particular fellow I think we all love the most.
And that guy’s name is Steve Harrington! When we meet the former high school jock in the first season, he’s kind of a douche. You really can’t blame Jancy shippers for wanting to see Jonathan and Nancy together at that point.
But he quickly grew on us and has become one of the most beloved characters. Anyone on the Internet can see how incredibly terrified we all are ahead of season 4’s final two episodes. If they kill Steve off, I will not be happy! We can’t imagine the show without him.
He’s absolutely amazing and charming, so we’ve shared just a few reasons why he’s the ultimate Stranger Things character!
Why Steve Harrington is the best Stranger Things character
He let Nancy go
I have an absolute weakness for reformed bad boys, and this one definitely deserves the praises. Steve learned to become selfless. In season 2, when Nancy broke up with him, he learned to let her go. No matter how in love with her he is. I mean, he’s obviously still not over her (and perhaps she isn’t over him!), but he respected her decision and just wanted to see her happy.
His friendship with Dustin
One of my favorite parts about the show is the relationship between Steve and Dustin. It’s one of the most endearing parts of the series, and I always look forward to any scenes with these two together. Whether it’s Steve boosting the young teen’s confidence or it’s the incredibly smart Dustin poking fun at his role model, the two on screen together is amazing.
The parent of the group
Somehow poor Steve always ends up being the babysitter. He’s definitely fed up with it. But he takes his job of protecting the kids very seriously! He’ll fight off any monster that comes his (or their) way. The ultimate hero!
Accepting of Robin
In a time where it would have been very difficult to come out, Robin trusts Steve. And he proves to be the ultimate best friend and supports her. As he rattles on about all his dates in Stranger Things season 4, he also allows Robin to share her thoughts and feelings about her latest crush, Vickie. When she confessed to him in season 3, he didn’t even bat an eyelash.
The hair
I mean, that hair is flawless. Do we really need to say more? Thank you Farrah Fawcett hairspray for bringing us the perfection that is Steve Harrington’s mane.
