Castlevania is returning to Netflix with a new series focused on Richter Belmont

Geeked Week 2022 was the gift that kept on giving for video game and animation fans. One of the biggest reveals from day five of the celebration was the news that Netflix is working on a new animated series within the Castlevania universe. Castlevania: Nocturne will focus on Richter Belmont.

Fans of Castlevania will recognize Richter from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. While the original Castlevania Netflix series followed the story of Trevor Belmont and Alucard, this show is likely going to be set several centuries after that events of the previous series.

Beyond the announcement video, Netflix did not share much with us regarding the storyline or potential release date of the show. We know that it will be led by showrunner Kevin Kolde, who also worked on the other Castlevania series, along with creator and writer Clive Bradley. Also like the 2017 series, this show will be produced by Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation.

We might not have too much to go on but at least we get our first look at Richter in the above announcement video! Given Richter’s outfit shown in that video, it looks like his story arc might be more inspired by Rondo of Blood, but it’s too early to tell too much at the moment. I know I’ll miss the original gang but I’m excited to see a new story unfold.

As for a release date, it’s hard to speculate without much detail to go on, but stay tuned to Netflix Life for future updates on this series.
