The Gray Man sneak peek, release date, cast, synopsis, photos and more

Will Netflix ever find its action film franchise? The streamer has seen great success with the action films The Old Guard, Extraction and Red Notice, the first two will see sequels, and the third set things up nicely to segway into the next chapter. Next in the action genre is the $200 million budgeted film, The Gray Man. Will this be the movie that finally sees Netflix with its mega-franchise?

Directed by the Russo Brothers, who produced with Mike Larocca, this film is co-written by two of the most successful screenwriters of all time, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. With that much talent in the mix, this movie is set to be something huge.

The Gray Man is based on a novel by Mark Greaney published in 2009 and produced by the Russo Brother’s AGBO company. Greany’s Gray Man series of books consists of 10 novels giving the Russo’s plenty of source material to make this a mega-franchise for the streamer.

The Gray Man release date

Filming for The Gray Man wrapped in July 2021 and Joe Russo previously told Variety that fans can most likely expect this film to release in the summer of 2022. As it turns out, our prediction that the film would be released in July 2022 was true.

On April 26, Netflix announced The Gray Man release date for July 22, 2022 and offered a first look at the film with photos of the cast in action. There’s no doubt that the film will be one of the biggest new release movies of the summer and a blockbuster in the making.

Sadly we do not yet have an official trailer for The Gray Man to share yet, but Netflix did release an exclusive clip from the film featuring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas and we’re happy to share it with you below!

The Gray Man cast

In addition to the mega-talent on the production side, this all-star cast is sure to make this movie something amazing. Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans lead the cast and are joined by Evans’s Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page of Netflix Bridgerton fame, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Julia Butters, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, and Michael Gandolfini.

The Gray Man synopsis

This action spy thriller sees Gosling portraying CIA operative Court Gentry who has been betrayed by his agency and now finds himself a fugitive. Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former college of Gentrys, is sent to hunt him down.

If the film stays true to the source material, Gentry and Lloyd travel across Europe as the two trained killers take on one another with a final goal of finalizing a billion-dollar Nigerian oil deal.

The Gray Man first look photos

On April 26, Netflix released a handful of pictures from the film along with the release date announcement. Fans can see Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Page in the upcoming Netflix movie that looks sleek and exciting.
