Virgin River season 5 reportedly begins filming this summer

Turns out Alexandra Breckenridge’s recent Instagram post wasn’t an announcement that Virgin River season 5 had started filming!

The Virgin River star shared a post stating that she was away from home filming, and given the actress’ update on the fifth season’s filming status, the assumption was that Virgin River season 5 had beat the filming delay and cameras had started rolling in March as planned.

A new report reveals that Virgin River season 5 will start filming this summer, which will allow the series to film outside of the cold months in Canada (which we know Breckenridge will be happy about based on her feelings about those Vancouver winters).

When does Virgin River season 5 start filming?

According to a report from Hollywood North, Virgin River season 5 will start filming in July 2022. The report states that the fifth season has a target shoot date from July 1 to November 30, which would see the cast filming for most of the second half of 2022.

Since season 5 will be filming until just before the last month of the year, it’s unlikely that Virgin River will release two seasons in 2022. The first two seasons were released in December and November respectively, and the third received a summer release in July 2021.

Virgin River season 4 will follow suit with season 3 and be released in July 2022, which means the fifth season could either break the series from a set release timeline or stay put in summer. Season 4 will premiere on July 20 with 12 episode to tide us over until the next batch.

As for Virgin River season 5, those episodes probably won’t hit our watch lists much before spring 2023. A release between February and April 2023 could be on the table, but Netflix could also stick to summertime releases for Virgin River and hold season 5 until July. We’ll have to wait and see!
