7 questions the Bridgerton season 2 finale leaves unanswered

The time has come! Bridgerton season 2 is finally available to stream on Netflix, and fans wasted no time hitting play and binge-watching all eight episodes of the addicting period drama series. For those who have finished season 2, you probably realized that some questions were left unanswered. We discuss the unanswered questions below.

After watching the latest season of Bridgerton, I’m sure many of us would say the second season was just as good as the first. However, some might argue that the second season was more drama-filled and exciting than the first season or vice versa. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed them both and can’t wait to see the third installment.

Although the main storyline wrapped up nicely, the Bridgerton season 2 finale still left viewers with several unanswered questions. Some of these unanswered questions may be addressed in the upcoming Bridgerton season 3, but others we may never know the answer to.

Below, we shared seven questions that were left unanswered in the season 2 finale. We’re about to dive into some spoilery content, so I suggest you take your exit now if you haven’t finished the second season.

Bridgerton season 2 left fans with these questions

The first question that we’re going to start with involves Colin and Penelope. The rest of the questions deal with various characters from the period drama series.

1. Does Colin actually like Penelope?

Throughout season 2, it seemed like Colin was finally starting to see Penelope as a romantic interest instead of a friend. In the season 2 finale, Colin even tells Penelope that she’s special to him and that he will always look out for her. But the budding romance seems to quickly end when Penelope catches Colin speaking badly of her to other people at the ball. Colin tells the men he’s talking to that he would never court Penelope.

It’s unclear why Colin does this because it seemed so out of character. However, this scene happens after Eloise discovers that Penelope is Lady Whistledown. So maybe Eloise tells Colin, and he doesn’t want anything to do with her afterward.

But if you really want to see Colin and Penelope get together, you’ll be happy to know that eventually they get married. If you read the Bridgerton books, you’d know that Colin married Penelope in book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton. So, things should be patched up between them in the next season.

2. Does Benedict leave the Art Academy?

Benedict spends most of his time in season 2 at the Art Academy painting nude models and drinking the night away. But he soon finds out in the season 2 finale that he didn’t get into the Academy because of his talents.

Instead, it was because of his brother’s (Anthony Bridgerton) large donation to the Academy. After discovering this information, he confronts Anthony and tells him that he’s leaving the Academy. Anthony tries to talk him out of it, but Benedict seems determined.

The next time we see him, he’s closing the case to his art supplies. It’s unclear if this is his way of saying he’s done with art. Since Bridgerton season 3 will be about his love story, this question will probably be answered then.

3. Does Edwina get together with Prince Frederick of Prussia?

Edwina might get with the Prince, but nothing is certain. In the Bridgerton season 2 finale, the Queen basically offers to set Edwina up with the Prince. And based on Edwina’s reaction, it looks like she’s willing to date him.

Unfortunately, viewers do not get to see Edwina and the Prince together, but we assume that they will at least try to see if things work out between them. Sadly, this question will most likely not be answered in the upcoming season because the story will not focus on any of the Sharma family members. In fact, Edwina may not make an appearance in season 3 at all.

4. Does Madame Delacroix team up with Penelope again?

Penelope was going to stop being Lady Whistledown, but after her huge argument with Eloise, she decided to start writing again. However, it’s unknown if Madame Delacroix joins Penelope as a business partner again. The last time we saw Madame Delacroix and Penelope together, they were coming up with a plan to clear Eloise’s name. It was understood that Penelope would stop being Lady Whisteldown after the issue about Eloise came out. So Madame Delacroix probably started focusing on submitting her dress designs to a dressmaker in France.

After Penelope returns as Lady Whistledown in the season 2 finale, we do not see her meet with Madame Delacroix or talk to her about joining forces again. So, we’ll have to wait and see if this question is addressed in the upcoming season.

5. Do Eloise and Penelope become friends again?

After Eloise discovers that Penelope is Lady Whistledown in the season 2 finale, she tells Penelope that she never wants to see or speak to her again. We do not see Eloise and Penelope together again after that scene. So it seems that they aren’t friends.

But in the very last scene of the season, which takes place six months after the events of the Featherington Ball, Eloise seems to be happy and in a good place with her family. Could this mean Eloise and Penelope are back friends? It’s unknown. We’ll just say Eloise and Penelope’s friendship is up in the air at the end of the season. However, we expect to see this question answered in the next season.

6. Does Queen Charlotte continue to track down Lady Whistledown?

It’s unknown, but it will most likely happen. Now that we know Penelope has returned as the sharp-tongued gossip columnist Lady Whistledown by the end of the season 2 finale, I think it’s safe to say the Queen isn’t done hunting her down. After Penelope starts writing again, we never see the latest issue delivered across town. The show ends up cutting to the future. But I’m pretty sure that once the Queen finds out that Lady Whistledown is back, she’ll continue her search. We’ll most likely see this happen in the third season.

7. Will Anthony and Kate have kids?

In the very last scene of Bridgerton season 2, we see Anthony and Kate happily in love. But we don’t see any kids. According to Eloise, the married couple had been traveling for six months. It looks like after getting married, Anthony and Kate went on their honeymoon. Even though we don’t see Anthony and Kate have kids in the season 2 finale, we can confirm that they do later on. In the book, Kate and Anthony end up having four children together.
