We’re absolutely over the moon about the upcoming release of Bridgerton season 2! In just a few days, fans will be entered back into the Regency era of high-class society in England. This time around, the story focuses on the eldest Bridgerton and his intent to find a wife.

Bridgerton is hands down one of Netflix’s best original series and there’s no debating that. It premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and quickly became the most-watched series on the streamer at the time. Due to its immense success, Netflix greenlit the period drama for an additional season just a month later. Then, the streamer decided to order two additional seasons on top of the second season order three months later.

Obviously, there’s still so much more story to tell, and fans are excited to see the release of each installment. As fans gear up for Bridgerton season 2, some have begun to wonder about which Bridgerton book the new season is based on. That’s no problem for us.

Which Bridgerton book is Bridgerton season 2 based on?

Best-selling novelist Julia Quinn has eight books in her Bridgerton book series. The first season was based on The Duke and I, and the second season is based on The Viscount Who Loved Me. We’ve listed each book in reading order below:

  • Book 1: The Duke and I
  • Book 2: The Viscount Who Loved Me
  • Book 3: An Offer From A Gentleman
  • Book 4: Romancing Mr. Bridgerton
  • Book 5: To Sir Phillip, With Love
  • Book 6: When He Was Wicked
  • Book 7: It’s In His Kiss
  • Book 8: On The Way to the Wedding

The Viscount Who Loved Me is set in 1814 and focuses on the love story of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. He’s a reformed “rake” who now has plans to wed so that the Bridgerton name can be carried on. Once he sets his sights on Edwina Sheffield (renamed to Sharma in the series), he intends to marry her, but her older, overprotective half-sister Kate is determined to stop the betrothal at all costs. Anthony and Kate’s mutual dislike for each other eventually blossoms into something much more, which ultimately leads to a love triangle. Who will Anthony Bridgerton end up with?

You can find out the answer to this question by watching Bridgerton season 2 when it makes its landing on Netflix on March 25 at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET!
