Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. is everyone’s latest true-crime obsession on Netflix. The series has been trending in the Netflix Top 10 since its release on Wednesday, March 16. After watching all four episodes, some viewers have become curious whether Netflix will greenlight Bad Vegan season 2.

Bad Vegan follows the scandalous story of Sarma Melngailis, the restauranteur. She became famous after she founded the popular and star-studded raw-food restaurants Pure Food and Wine and One Lucky Duck. While it was still open, celebrities like Owen Wilson and Alec Baldwin frequently visited Pure Food.

But then Sarma met a conman named Shane Fox, a.k.a. Anthony Strangis, and everything changed for her after that. In the docuseries, Sarma claims that Anthony manipulated her into giving him millions of dollars from her personal and investor bank accounts, eventually bankrupting her businesses. Both Sarma and Anthony spent time in jail and received several years of probation for committing fraud and additional criminal acts.

Sarma tells her side of the story in Bad Vegan, and it’s pretty crazy when you hear her talking about how Anthony convinced her he could make her beloved dog Leon immortal, among many other outlandish claims.

Will there be a Bad Vegan season 2 on Netflix?

Netflix has not ordered another season of Bad Vegan, but Bad Vegan season 2 is still possible, albeit unlikely. Most Netflix true crime shows, especially those about a singular story, don’t usually have more than one season. But there are rare cases like Tiger King, which did get a continuation on the streaming service.

However, in this case, I think that Bad Vegan is a one-and-done series unless new information comes to light or something changes that would warrant an additional season. If Netflix eventually orders another one, it’s unclear when it would release on the platform, likely not for another year or two at the earliest.
