Outer Banks is arguably one of the best Netflix original series, and there’s no denying that. However, one of the main reasons the teen series is so popular is the strong woman characters. Most of the characters are likable, but it’s just something about the woman characters in the show that have you coming back for more. They’re tough in their own right, and it’s truly intriguing and inspiring to watch.

The woman characters in Outer Banks are well-written and are more central to the plot. This is often not the case, so it’s refreshing to see. They do not play second fiddle to the male leads. They’re fierce, independent, and far from damsels in distress. Although they might find themselves in need of help at times, their resourcefulness often gets them out of difficult situations. They’re able to bounce back from the icky moments with ease. But they do recognize that they can’t do it all on their own. They’re not afraid to lean on those closest to them (male or female) to draw strength.

Many of the woman characters exhibit a take-charge attitude and refuse to stay silent in the face of abuse of power. But there are some woman characters in the teen series that aren’t necessarily the good guys. However, their determination to see their desires and goals manifested makes them strong. Some have many negative traits, but you can’t say they aren’t dedicated.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month here at Netflix Life, I wanted to share some of the best woman characters in Outer Banks that instantly steal the show when on-screen.

Best woman characters in Outer Banks

The woman characters in my list are strong, complex individuals. While some didn’t get much screentime, they still managed to make an impact on viewers. There’s even a character on the list who I believe will soon get her chance to shine in the upcoming third season.

Best woman characters in Outer Banks: Sarah Cameron

We’re introduced to Sarah Cameron as the Kook princess who comes from a wealthy background. Everything has been handed to her on a silver platter due to her father (Ward) being a wealthy businessman. However, that’s just surface-level stuff. We quickly find out that there’s more to Sarah than meets the eye. She wants more for her life. She doesn’t know what exactly, but she knows she doesn’t want to be what her father wants her to be.

Sarah is her own person. She has her own goals and desires but is willing to help those she loves. She’s caring, loyal, and selfless. Although she had a close relationship with her dad, Sarah had the ability and courage to stand up to him to fight for what was right. She has her own struggles and flaws and makes mistakes, but she tries to learn from them. All of these characteristics make Sarah Cameron one of the best woman characters in the teen series.
