Although 2022 is looking to be a huge year for Netflix shows with Stranger Things and more making huge returns, there’s a few other strange things that could make this year even better: Surprise renewals of some fan-favorite long shot shows.

Whether the shows were initially billed as “limited series” or have indeterminate futures, there’s always a handful of Netflix shows we’ll keep our fingers crossed for more. Even shows that have been given final season orders can be, based on history, walked back on.

For most of these Netflix shows, it’s purely wishful thinking that the streamer would green light a new season. As previously mentioned, these are long shots (some more than others), and while we hope to see any of them back in some form someday, we’re simply manifesting.

Netflix shows that could be renewed 2022

From a beloved anthology series to new hit satire and horror series, we’ve gathered five Netflix shows that we think definitely deserve to make a comeback. Let’s begin below with everyone’s favorite mother-daughter drama, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

Where Lorelai and Rory lead, Gilmore Girls fans will follow… Well, most of them. When The WB/CW series returned for a four-part revival miniseries on Netflix in 2016, fan response was split. Some fans weren’t thrilled about where the revival left our beloved characters and would rather leave them in peace, while others are eager to re-open that seemingly cliffhanger ending.

However, the mood overall on a second season of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life seems to have shifted in a positive direction. The demand for a follow-up season is without a doubt there. It’s all about getting the band back together for another year in the Gilmores’ lives.

According to the cast and creators, everyone’s game to return for season 2 if the timing is right and the story makes sense. They also appear to be hyper-aware of the fandom’s reaction and want to avoid coming back just to come back. As of February 2022, there’s no movement on more Gilmore Girls, and it looks to stay that way for a while. Still, dream with us here, folks!
