Stranger Things season 4 release date finally confirmed (and it’s a bit of a twist)

It goes without saying that Stranger Things fans are getting impatient. The wait for the new season has felt like forever, and people have even started to speculate another installment wasn’t ever going to come. Fans have joked that season 4 is actually a myth and Netflix has just been playing us this whole time. Well, time to get excited, everyone. We finally have the release date for Stranger Things season 4.

Though it’s going on three years since Stranger Things season 3 debuted, the show started to make announcements about the next season in recent months that got fans’ attention. For starters, Netflix confirmed we’d be returning to Hawkins in 2022. On Stranger Things Day in Nov. 2021, it was revealed that season 4 would be coming in the summertime. Of course, this only left fans wanting more.

And today, Feb. 17, the streamer has announced the release date! And there’s a bit of a twist with the release schedule. Similar to Netflix shows like Ozark and Grace and Frankie, Stranger Things season 4 will be split into two parts! Whether you love it or hate it, here’s the release dates for both.

Stranger Things season 4 release date

Netflix has confirmed Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 will debut on May 27, 2022, and volume 2 will come out on July 1, 2022. Fortunately, that’s not a huge gap between the parts. That’ll give us just enough time to speculate what’ll happen next without going back into agony while waiting.

Both these release dates are also timed to holidays, which the show has done before. May 27 marks the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, and July 1 is the Friday before Fourth of July. This will no doubt prove successful for Netflix, as fans of all ages will have time off to binge season 4.

This is all such crazy news, and there’s more to it! On top of these announcements, Netflix has also confirmed that Stranger Things season 5 will mark the end of the series. We don’t know when that one will come out, but don’t get too sad yet. There will likely be a spin-off series or two when the show concludes, at least, that’s what the streamer is teasing.
