Where is The Vampire Diaries going after it leaves Netflix?
By Reed Gaudens
The Vampire Diaries fans, it’s been an inevitable truth that The CW’s hit supernatural teen drama series would someday leave Netflix. Unfortunately, that someday is happening sooner rather than later in 2022.
Because of the deal The CW had with Netflix, each of its shows that fell under its streaming pact will leave five years after their final seasons were added on the service. We’ve recently seen some big and small CW shows leave Netflix, but The Vampire Diaries might be the biggest yet.
After its series finale on The CW in March 2017, the eighth and final season of TVD was added to Netflix on March 18, 2017. For those keeping track, five years after that date brings us to March 18, 2022, the day the fan-favorite series is primed to leave Netflix.
But where can diehard fans of the vampire drama watch all eight seasons of the beloved series after they’re removed from Netflix? While nothing has been confirmed just yet, there’s one particular streamer that has the best odds of claiming TVD.
Where is The Vampire Diaries streaming after Netflix?
When The Vampire Dairies leaves Netflix in March 2022, the series will almost certainly move to HBO Max. Since Warner Bros. Television distributes the series and WarnerMedia owns the newbie streaming service, it’s a safe bet that TVD will join the likes of Gossip Girl.
It wouldn’t be shocking for there to be a bidding war for the streaming rights to TVD since it’s still a very popular and profitable title. But it’s unlikely that Warner Bros. will shop the show elsewhere when HBO Max is already the perfect home. Also, it’s already on HBO Max in Europe and Latin America.
Obviously, it’s not ideal for fans to lose one of their best Netflix binges to a different streamer, but thankfully, the series will move to one that always has television watchers talking with hit shows like Euphoria, Peacemaker, and And Just Like That.
