When CW shows are leaving Netflix from The Vampire Diaries to Supergirl
By Sabrina Reed
We’re slowly crawling to the end of The CW era on Netflix. For years the platform was the streaming home for the network’s original series. Once a show’s season finale aired, Netflix subscribers could count on the full season dropping eight days later for them to binge.
However, when the channel’s parent companies — ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia — developed their own streaming platforms, they decided to end their partnership with Netflix. That’s why shows like Batwoman, Nancy Drew, Stargirl, and more haven’t come to the streamer.
New CW originals that debuted after the deal lapsed in 2019 can typically be found on HBO Max. But Netflix will have a hold on The CW’s pre-2019 line-up for quite sometime. The transition to HBO Max will move at a snail’s place.
There are even shows that could remain on Netflix long enough to come within distance of 2030. This is due to the company’s five year clause in the deal which stipulates that every CW show that lands on their platform must remain there for half a decade once their final season makes its premiere on the streamer.
As such we’re nowhere near a time when there won’t be any CW shows on Netflix, but the writing’s on the wall. Here’s a list of the network’s series that are still available to stream on the platform and when they leave as reported by What’s On Netflix.
